So, there I was, on the way into the office, when I look down to the right and notice the right hand case is missing. The locking pin that the red catch locks on to has disappeared and so the box just fell off over the first bump. Luckily I found the box but unluckily not the pin, which should have been in the same area but seems to have dissolved into the ground.

Check these pins boys and girls.

Does anyone have a spare pin for sale?

I've got a safety pin you can have. Its a large size. £3.99 to the man in Turkey

Has this affected "The Marriage" ?

It has not yet affected "The Marriage" as the superior being that is my wife is not yet aware of the cost of replacement. In order to maintain the status quo, I will of course be lying when the time comes to reveal it.

The links show that maybe there is a problem, but I still have to buy a new mushroom pin.....which hurts in the financial dept. Oh well, it's all part of the joy of 1200 ownership.

Is there a recall for this or is it covered under warranty? :aidan

Does anyone reckon it's possible to hammer a big headed bolt in, that the locking mechanism would fix onto?

same happen to me - long post about 2 months ago the mushroom has to be set correctly, mine was too short and therefore 'locked'above the mushroom

Must admit read all the tips on here, checked the height and used locktight. I always check them by giving a good pull when there first put on. Even on a ride they never feel completely solidly latched to the bike but I guess its a characteristic of the varios. :augie

Used to have a 1200 Pan Euro yrs back and never thought about the panniers on the move, and never felt I'd lose one.

 I think I meant the ST1100. I'll be calling the GS1200 a 1300 next :D

With regards the Mushroom Bolt Measurements this image might be clearer
