always done own service but have bmw warranty now, so any advice or experience of blue bell would be useful thanks.
who else in cheshire can i trust/avoid

The first service of my five an a half year old 1150 was done by them. They were very good, loaned me a bike and did a few extra jobs on the bike.
Also the mechanic appears very knowledgable and keen to help.
So although I have only ever been to a dealer once I could recommend them.

If you're in N Cheshire you might consider going to Williams in Manchester. IMHO it would be hard to find better service anywhere (car or bike). I bought my (now 2 yrs old) 1150 GS from them and nothing has ever been too much trouble - it's in there today having some corrosion-eaten parts replaced (2 winters: not much washing) under warranty.

Found both BMW and Blue Bell useless when expecting a courtesy bike after a fault on my GS, which meant it being recovered.

They had my bike for 8 days. The Emergency Recovery unit collected the bike from my office but refused to re-deliver it later, as it was less than 30 miles.

When I wrote to both BMW and the dealer to complain, they couldn't even be bothered to respond.

They should be ok on service but make sure you have a courtesy bike lined up.

When it comes down to it, how good is the mechanic is surely the only relevent question. By all accounts Blue Bells is very good.

I'm sure the mechanic is very good - just make sure you have a courtesy bike lined up before you go.

My complaint isn't with the guys who actually do the work, it's with the people higher up and BMW themselves.

Don't trust Blue Bell then, Paul the service manager actually admitted to someone this week that when they did work on my bike, it was an oversight to charge me for a brake fluid change and forget to change it  now I've just ordered a new rear disk, also due to them, as the pads after the service were down to metal in three weeks, when I asked should they have told me they were low, the reply was 50% leaft on the pads, so i must have rode with my foot on the brake pedal.

You are right Tim. Mike Smith is the mech @ Blue Bell and he is the man. Get my bike set up there every time.

In all fairness to Mike he was off at the time with a broken arm,
(or so I was told) I go to Williams now and they are first class.

I also have had problems with Blue Bell, was in there last Friday, had a long discussion with Paul and put a few problems we had to bed,. I have some warranty issues out standing on my Gs1200, and to be honest Paul has gone out of is way to get them sorted out, nothing seam to much trouble, he even telephones me letting me know when my warranty parts will be in stock.

I am happy to be using Blue bell again they seam to have a change of attitude, give them a try, you can always go else where if your not happy.

See if you can get them to pay for my new rear disk then!!

:D :D

Im in Stoke-on-Trent, just down the road from Blue Bell. I goto Pidcocks in Long Eaton nr Nottingham for everything. Nuff Said.

From all accounts, the management and sales team are a shower at Blue Bell but the mechs are good. You pays your money and takes your chances.

Paul Newman is the service manager at Blue Bell - and he is good.

The problems don't come from him or the service team.

BMW should be more customer care orientated.

If it is, and it looks like it, I worked with him at Godfrey Hall BMW (cars) Shrewsbury, was always helpful to both staff and customers. Nice chap.:)

Well Paul as you seem to have a good reference for customer service and you have now admitted the "oversight" how about a rear disk then :D

Found Service staff at Blue Bell helpfull and will put themselves out to get things done for you. Paul has always asked if i need a courtesy bike when mine has been in for service or other work. Also he keeps me informed with any issues i have eg. i am one plauged by the squealing brake fault and top box movement.

Cheers BB
