I purchased my R1150GS ADV about 2-3months ago and a month after purchasing it the gearbox was pronounced faulty and needing replacement.
This was done quickly and without fuss or drama. While the bike was away I decided to look a little more into the bikes history as I thought the gearbox going U/S after 10mths and 6000mls was odd.
It was at this point I found out the bike had been crashed (not seriously I was advised) and professionally repaired by BMW. Of course I was concerned I had purchased a minger what with the gearbox failing too.I approached the sales manager who advised I should go to BMW customer service which I did. They offered a further years warranty with 50% paid by them 25% paid by the dealer and 25% paid by me. At about £600 or £700 ,quite frankly I cant afford this at this time so went to the dealer and asked if they would offer something else, servicing, clothes etc. I was advised they would have to go to BMW and ask if they could do this. I waited 4weeks and no answer so chased it and was told they would chase it up.I left it another 2 weeks and chased it again,I was told they would chase BMW customer services but that they seriously doubt anything else would be offered.Im still waiting for an answer.

Seriously what would you do now, leave it and walk away.I feel dissapointed that the dealer is not prepared to make some other 'good will' offer. Am I being unreasonable ?

Nope you are being entirely reasonable, possibly far more reasonable than I would be...

If they had told you the bikes history before you purchased, would you have bought the bike? If the answer is NO you should pursue it. I would have expected a "reputable" dealer to have told you the full history of the bike.

IMO the main sales guy at Blue Bell is a shower, and I wouldnt be surprised if he's holding it up for you.

Thanks Mike

I dont share your opinion concerning the abilities of the Blue Bell staff I have found them to be helpful and professional. However I am dissapointed that I now feel as if I am in a position of weakness and they in the driving seat. Sadly I do share your opinion concerning 'holding it up' and do feel as if I am being avoided.

Just dont know what to do next to be honest. Any ideas people ?

Use Phil as a bike stand  don't be pushed around by them, tell them to get it sorted, they will let it drag untill it's to late to do anything.
(IMHO)

:D

C.A.B. and Trading Standards.

Spring to mind. You have been Screwed in my opinion, Blue Bell should have informed you at the time of negotiating a Deal, and you could have weighed up the pros and cons, price, damage, resale value etc. If a private seller had screwed you that's bad, but a BuM dealer just cannot afford to do that. Go for the Managing Director, be nice to him and DEMAND a full refund of whatever deal you did with them.

A couple of years ago, a certain bike dealer in crewe [lets call them bell blue for example] had finished a pdi on a brand new 1150gs, took it for a test ride to check it and ended up chucking it down the road at the first roundabout, I would like to bet that the new owner of the bike wasn't told about that either [they replaced all the parts, but you never know for certain if owt was missed]

rearrange this well know phrase

Bell Blue barge pole touch wouldn't em with:rolleyes:

I just want to advise that this matter is now closed and very satisfactorily too. I was very concerned that this was spiralling towards bad feelings but fortunately it has not been allowed to get that far. I still maintain that I have always found the staff @ Blue Bell friendly and professional and I am pleased to say that they have continued to be so and that we can continue this relationship. I also want to express my thanks to the forum who have been very helpful and in my opinion instrumental. Finally philpaw2003 for looking after and maintaining a great bike and for his help.

Now I can finally ride it and enjoy it :D
