As to what level of technical knowledge you need to ride a bike safely, again I don't think we should be too prescriptive. On this forum we have those who take the FD apart for fun and take great pictures, like our friend in Galway, and others who take their bike to the dealer for everything, who can say which is the safest approach. At least Eoghan was doing the work himself and now knows his bike better for it.

Should there be a technical test before we can buy a bike? Join this forum? There lies madness! Let's just ride the things!

As he clearly made a "Horses Arse" of putting it on, see his video as mentioned by yourself for evidence of this, perhaps at least some technical knowledge would make it safer, for example how is he likely to spot any other "technical" fault with his bike which could lead to a failure whilst riding. In this case the damn exhaust falling off and hitting some poor bugger behind!

BruceG, as you are new to the forum, and with just 21 posts, mostly negative, I'll look forwart to you maturing to the point where you some can contribute some positive posts in the future. Happy New Year!

CLOWN If you are going to take some idiotic position and crtiticise others for pointing out the obvious, then expect some flack, dont get annoyed about it just accept it, seems your man Eoghan has let you down with his video posting thus proving the doubters and people who dared to openly criticise the damn obvious stupidity 100% justified. and its forwarD not forwarT how mature is that I can spell, and mine has started a hell of a lot happier than yours, still it can only get better, never mind.

I'm with Drumacoon lad and it needed saying. There's too many armchair critics on this forum who rarely make helpful contributions and for some reason think it's clever/funny attemptiing to make fools of people.

I visit other forums (mostly car related) where such behavior is seen as unacceptable where most people are only too glad to help regardless of an individuals technical or riding abilty.

Happy new year, Nick

bruceg, man why are you so angry, the guy asked a question, you and i would fit the can no prob, like a lot of others,he had a go and was brave enough to do it in public(sort of),even after getting some flack he still posted his video clip(something i cant do as it goes).out of the two of you i know who i would go out of my way to help and guess what einstein it aint you:D

There are also to many people scared to offend and offer criticism where it is clearly due!
Its so easy to want to appear as everyones friend and be "PC", however it doesnt always give them the advice they REALLY need to hear. Someone has to be Mr Unpopular and tell it how it really is.

I think this was one of Bruce's first posts on here... :D

And your point is? That was said in response to the stream of people who seem to do nothing other than moan about the GS range of bikes, to quote it out of context just makes you look kind of dumb, and the sort of person who would need to ask how to fit a tacky looking Blue Flame end can.

Just wondered what happened to the happy-go-lucky, easy going guy whose glass was half full - that's all :thumb

Keep on trolling, it's entertaining for the rest of us. Reminds me of Alf Garnett.

well you are a bit of a prick aren't you? lol...:tosser

not everyone on the forum has the confidence or know-how when it comes to things like this. Whilst I'm not very technically minded, I'm not daft enough to leave the bike is a state where the exhaust might fall off... anyway, its been determined that the wobble is caused by the poor bracketry that came supplied....

I've ordered some H&B engine bars... any tips with the fitment of these? oh and i'll do a video of these too, to see if they wobble as well! :blast

Hi Eog,

You have done OK really :beerjug:

You have had a bash at doing something and posted a video up about your result. :thumb2

It's more than many take the trouble to do after pestering all and sundry for advice about everything you can imagine.... and you didn't bash your thumb.

There are several threads about fitting H&B bars with assorted hints and tips, including one somewhere where a bod seemed to take half of the bolts out without realising what they were. :blast

Follow the instruction sheet to the letter and you will find it's an easy job...and flick through the 'Search' button threads, too. If you limit the search to just the 1200 section and get a bit inventive with the search criteria (or you will get lots of stories about drunken nights in bars) you'll be fine. You may need a torque wrench for some of the bolts, I can't remember.

If it goes well, take some still pic's as you go along and bung 'em up. It would make a good sticky, if there isn't one already.

Another supporter of the very limted society exposes himself, NAB there is a saying for clowns like, "Just let people THINK you are a complete waste of vital organs, dont go and post something on a public forum and dispel all doubt"

You must be be a fine exponent of unarmed combat as you have entered a battle of wits totally unarmed!
