i am looking for a bluetooth head set to use with my garmin 2820 either fixed inside my helmet or a small one that goes in my ear (stereo would be nice) so who's wearing what these day's .........
Geoff, just from a physical safety point of view, I recommend that you don't use one of those 'over the ear' Bluetooth headsets that are designed for office or car use inside a helmet. If you take a tumble, and that side of your helmet hits the ground, the over the ear headset will, literally, fracture your skull.
Motorola do a bike-specific bluetooth receiver / ear piece / microphone. It "glues" to the side ofmyour lid. I purchased one a few months back (still in the box I am afraid) but cannot vouch for it. I bought mine for skiing - the phone always rings when you are "gloved-up" and phone is secreted in your deepest pocket!
It should do. it conforms to all audio elements within the Bluetooth stack including A2DP for Stereo.
I've had two of these now; one I have in it's manufactured form, and one I've butchered for a prototype (I'll post more on this when I get it working properly).
Cost me about £35.00 I think from a german online shop.

Thats a good bit of kit, pity they're out of stock as I would be happy to spend £35 for that.
Only problem I have is that the mic is built into the unit, which obviously wont be a problem for music or gps, but is pain if you want to use the phone or intercom.

Unless you butcher it and put the mike in your helmet as Blowzorn maybe doing.
Another thought is to take the audio out from *any* GPS and feed it in to the Bluetooth device, thence to your helmet???
Or… PMR radio on bike with PTT switch on bars, PMR radio fed from Bluetooth device. Device could also take audio out from GPS via audio isolator (transformer)
That's pretty much it. Though I've also done away with the casing and hidden the PCB and the battery elsewhere in the lining of the helmet.
Just need to extend the on/off switch to a more convenient location, it's currently mounted on the PCB.
