I had ear impressions taken at NEC a few years ago, too. Just for earplugs. No speakers. Horribly uncomfortable and binned after single use. I am told that the silicone ones are more comfortable, or maybe less uncomfortable than the rigid plastic ones. I also had impressions done by my audiologist for hearing aids which were equally uncomfortable. I am waiting for an appointment for silicone ones to be done.
