Hi All

Went to help a buddy do a bit of construction on his house extension tonight, meaning I did the 50mins ride back home in the dark…

Wow, love the old GS but the main and strong beam are a bit average

Now I know why everyone has spotlights

Can anyone suggest a pair, my preference:

- fit ok on suspension front rather than engine bars ideally (so that I don’t have to mess around with them whenever engine bars come off
- reliable and long lasting but I’m not planning on spending £hundreds
- low power usage
- ideally already has fuse setup so I don’t have to add fuse as I did for GPS

Etc etc the usual. Is there some know decent ones we should get? Button then wires to the handlebar and all that

Cheers

I recently fitted a set of Denali D3s with hybrid lenses and a Denali loom to replace my sand blasted HID Hellas. Plug and play, excellent build quality and impressive beam pattern and power, but not cheap.

A BTBR set up if anyone is selling some used

Yeah Denali is £300 +…. a bit out of budget range…

Nice! Those would be lovely jobbly!!!

Put a wanted advertisement up here - you may get one, they were the 1150 rage 15 years ago

Somebody may have a set of 2 fogs and 2 spots & lightbar & auto switch lurking

You may pick it up for less than £100

Alternatively contact Les Wassell here, he may have the components for that set up

Thanks

But I think that’s US and at $40 then I wonder if it will last more than a few weeks after rain / cold UK!

Shows £34.77 for me and from personal experience I can assure you that the quality is top notch, even the BMW main dealer was amazed at the quality, fit and finish. Shipped to Northern Ireland in 3 weeks no issues at all.

Really?

Hmmmmm might be worth a thought

I can send you photos by WhatsApp if you want to see what they look like.

PM me your phone number if you're interested

Wait wait

I just had a thought!

My search has been focused on “BMW 1150GS spotlight / auxiliary light” which I think now is silly, barely anything available out there.

But when you go 1200GS, there is a bucket load of choice! Considering the similarities amongst both bikes, I see no reason why I couldn’t choose a suspension fitting from the 1200 (no beak fitting ones, but suspension fitting should be fine?

Still coming off similar battery etc

Eureka moment over here. 1200GS search here I go

I have options in my post
There are others too

Yes. I got the HID kits from Les Wassel. Amazing difference. Oh and a pair of nice little spotlights too. :thumb2
I wired my spotlights through a 3 way switch so they can be either off ( middle position ), on with dipped beam ( bottom position ) or on with main beam ( top position ).

Here are a set I fitted to my 1150GS.
No idea what brand they are but they are bright.
I bent up my own bracket and have them stabilised with small turnbuckles off the back bracing back to the upper crash bar.
They are direct fed from the fuse box run and switched through a relay so they can only operate on full beam (switch on the rhbar)
Only issue is when I come off the spots I am riding blind

Ok thanks - but I need to light up the road not the planet. Haha
