Hi everyone
i was in a dealers yesterday while my mate picked up his new GSA and the dealer said to him do you need anything else with the bike and he said yes
for piece of mind i want the 3 year warranty
Dealer said sorry you cant have it now and anyway BMW are going to not offer it any more :eek::eek::eek::eek:

now come on BMW
you make a round the world bike that is indestructable that will never break down while touring
as we all know your bike has not one single fault with it - its a serious bit of fantastic engineering - you must be making a fortune out of warranty cos no one ever ever claims for a thing cos GS's are so good - or do you know different ???? :thumb2

just be honest to all GS'ers who are about to part with £10k plus for a GS / GSA - have you now also had enough with all the claims about piss poor parts and simply cant afford to keep repairing them - i mean if you think its to much of a risk do you ever think how much of a risk it is for us lot

can anyone enlighten us from inside BMW as to the reason why you are about to stop the 3rd year warranty :spitfire

my own thoughts are BIG F*CKIN MISTAKE :spitfire

if you now have no faith that it wont make it past 24 months why should we part with our cash ??????

They contact you just before the 2 yrs are up, it's cost me £367 as I took the no excess option.
I haven't heard they are stopping this infact they have just reduced the cost by nearly 50%

Worth every penny think I've had my money back already and it's only into it's second month

mines up

this is not a wind up
my warranty runs out in 8 weeks
and like you i want that warranty
and the sales guy i spoke to seemed to know his stuff
so lets do all we can to make sure everyone has at least the choice to get that piece of mind that you have, i want, and everyone else deserves
having started this thread the thing i am not sure about is exactly when MBW are going to withdraw the 3rd year option
so come on dealers - join in - we are the customers who beleived in you - so tell us whats going on :clap

Ditto.

I'm in for another year.

Seems highly unlikely to me that they would stop offering extended warranties. Maybe they are going to make the original warranty 3 years as standard like the US. :-)

Just extended mine for the 3rd year and was told I can do the same every year but only up to 100,000 miles, guess they have faith in my bike but not yours.

my 1200gs is just over 3 years old, i am now in my 4th warranty year - a month ago when i asked about the warranty i was assured i could go on extending it year on year till the bike reaches 80,000 miles - furthermore they (N.O.G. contacted the BMW warranty people) specifically said if i have 79,999 miles on the clock when my warranty is due for renewal (next time) i can extend it again and the warranty will be valid for the whole following year despite going over 80,000

(mileage has to be under 80k WHEN you renew).

Getting excited about extended warranty? Ever heard a Hondasuzukikawasakiyamahaapriliamotoguzzi rider worry about extended warranty? Probably not, it's called reliability.

It's our own fault for accepting some of the crap they give us by opening our wallets even wider each time we go to a dealer.

I think the term is "Fan Boys" (apologies to the ladies)

Courtsey of Wikipedia:
Fanboy is a term used to describe an individual who is devoted to a single subject in a fanatical manner, or to a single point of view within that subject, often to the point where it is considered an obsession. Fanboys remain loyal to their particular obsession.

We've just renewed our warranty/emergency service cover for our K1200LT....(8 yrs old) we had the bike covered as an Approved BMW last year when touring Europe and were very glad of the cover and excellent service when our bike ended up in Innsbruck BMW for a very minor problem(circlip adrift). Superb service, courtesy car (no bikes available at that time but as it chucked it down for the following two days we weren't bothered!).
Expected the warranty cover to cost twice as much to renew so pleasantly surprised and as next Europe trip planned it's our peace of mind covered too. Of course you want reliability and no problems but who knows with any make or model !

Moto Guzzi....?....

Did you say Moto Guzzi and reliable in the same paragraph ??

The reason they don't have warranty claims is because they buy the unreliable pieces of Sh*t back off you after its been in the workshop dead for 3 months with nobody (especially MG technical) having a Scooby whats wrong with it, at least thats what they did to me last year.
