I was at the Bristol Classic Bike Show at Shepton Mallet on Saturday (on an Oilhead, but I still have the 100 GS :D).

I came across this stand:

I spoke to the guy who had set it up two years ago. It seems they are disillusioned refugees from the BMW Club which was declaring no interest in 'Classic' or 'Historical' bikes.

They had some interesting bikes on the stand (though I know Krauser 4-valve heads are not to everyone's taste ;)).

He knew about UKGSer.com :thumb.

No. 477 (under the banner) is M Slade's 1976 R100 RS.

Their "Free On-Line Magazine" can be found here:

I just thought someone might be interested :augie.

Bob.

p.s. I took 300 pics at the show - see here:

Them GSs look mighty purposeful Bob. What's with the alloy boxes on he crash bars?

I went to the Bristol show many years ago and bought a bike, that had not been my intention :blast. Never been again. Brilliant write up Bob. Cheers. :thumb2

Yep....very early days, Peter Ardron is the driving force behind it and starting to get a following. I have subscribed to "The Airhead" although Peter is looking for more content and contributors. Worth a look.

Just reading the sample magazine. Interesting to see bob porcias letter about unit 56 and their false claims about a bikes provinence" they had a few suspect bikes in at one point including an infamous 101

Wow.

G Pryke, 1982 BMW R80 ST

Graham is an aquaintance from Ely.

He rode that 80ST on the Dalton Highway - solo, unsupported then South, then East via Memphis to Miami. :bow

You can read his blog at http://alaskaandon.blogspot.co.uk/2015_07_01_archive.html

I think that he is writing a book of his experiences.

The boxes on the crash bars are additional fuel containers, 1 gallon each, made up by ARD to his outline spec.

Thanks for the heads up Bob, it looks like a good group to join with a lot of very knowledgeable folk. I passed the stand When I visited the show on Sunday but didn't dawdle, wish I had now.

The Krauser is mine, got to get it finished & ride it this year!! I was on the 'Airhead' stand all weekend & was surprised by the amount of interest the old Airhead bikes generated. There's a write-up of the Krauser build (Part 1) in the Airhead magazine & there's another coming soon.
Hans Muth has joined the Airhead too & has promised to contribute so that should be interesting!

I saw a Krauser very similar to that many years ago in a small bike shop, If I remember correctly, somewhere in a small village near Tavistock. Could this be the same one? I know the bike shop is no longer there.

Ooooh…. Don't be shy with the photos!

We like photos.:thumb2

A Krauser (re)build thread?:)

I joined about a year back, lots of good info. Write an article or pay a small sum to join. Well worth the effort or the money.

I've been with it since last year also; annual subs go to a good cause-Air ambulance. Well worth a tenner for interesting airhead reading.

I'd add some photos if I knew how to! Searched the FAQ's & eventually found some instructions that bare no resemblance to what I get on the page! - it seems to want URL's only ??? I'm sure I'm not the 1st to ask how to do it!

I use 'Photobucket' as a photo-hosting site.

Having up-loaded my pictures to Photobucket I then <copy & paste> the 'Direct' link into the drop-down screen you get on this site when you click the 'picture' icon.

It puts the link into the text line and the picture can be seen when you 'Preview Post'.

The basic Photobucket service is free but I have so many bike pictures up there I had to go advanced and pay for more space :blast.

It was good to see the 'Airheads' at the Show. The Krauser is an interesting project and I'm looking forward to the pictures :thumb.

Bob.

Glad you found the stand of interest :-)

Those of us on the stand certainly thought the whole w/e went very well and it was great to speak to so many enthusiastic and knowledgeable airhead fans.

Roll on next year when we'll be back but take a look at the website & if interested, sign up ..... you know you want to :-)
