Had my new (to me..) 1150 for a few weeks now. :bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

It's a 2002 model c/w BMW alarm.
Funny thing. When I 'plip' the alarm to 'off', its taken to doing a single
peeeep(!) sound, simultaneous to normal indicator flash.
Everything else is A-ok. All functions present and correct.

Ideas, anyone?

alarm

Hoi Bryn,
Your alarm sounds as if it is in "Ferry Mode". If your alarm fob has two buttons try pressing these together for 5 secs when your ignition is on. You should get a "bleep" to confirm return to standard operation.

Thanks Dave.

But, no-one's disturbed it. Bike lives in garage. :nenau

Cheers Paddy,

Interesting! Btw, does it with inductive key, too. So not a radio plip issue.
Bit late for waking the neighbours with our experiment. But will have a bit
of a play 1st thing in the morning!

Greetz,

B.

Hi Paddy,

Thanks for your input. Tried your idea this morning. Both buttons(5 secs), ignition on. No re-set beep.
Seems there is a problem. Will head to dealer to ask advice. Don't mind
(too much) idea that alarm is playing silly buggers, ultimately it's the imobiliser
function that bothers me. ie, I hope it won't inadvertantly go on strike on me. They seem more trouble than they're worth, these things..

Alarms cause no end of problems, I am having mine removed next week due to being stranded a couple of times.

Alarms

Have it taken off and chuck it in the bin more trouble than their worth.

Subtle is as subtle does. If dealer doesn't have rational idea / has seen
(heard!) it before, binning is probably safest way to go.
Hoping for easy answer, as you will imagine, but, ce la vie.

SECONDED :clap

When ur stranded miles from home and ur bike wont start cos of a tempremental alarm subtletly will be the last thing on your mind.............bin it in the same direction mine will be going..!!!!!

Don't have an alarm myself, but I agree -don't even have the alarm wired up on my car -mind you my car's a bit of a wreck, so no one in their right mind would nick it anyhow.

So, OK -seems the vote for DutchBryn is to throw it into the bin, and without any subtlety whatsoever....

I agree - bin it.

I don't have alarms on my bikes and I am intending to remove the 'Toad' alarm from my Landcruiser as the damn thing goes off when I indicate, use the wipers, lock the doors . . .

Sounds like a bad earth somewhere but I don't want to experiment with it.

Bob.

No, he dosent need an alarm he's got fuel pump(s)!! havent you Roger?
perhaps alarms aint that bad after all! (he.he.he):beerjug::beerjug:
Dave (I hate Christmas and alarms) GS

Go on then Dave, do tell about the fuel pump. Obviously one of those 'in' jokes.
There's me thinking they were one the 1200s afflictions.:hide

Don't encourage him :rob - and no it was very much an 1150 issue...I think on the 1200 it's more a matter of the fuel pump controller. Anyhow, there is a post on here somewhere, around start of August, of my fuel pump saga, in Romania & Bulgaria.
Anyhow, I'm sure Dave'll fill you in on the details -I'm too modest!

Bit intigued about story. Looks like it's search jobbie..

Been asking about a bit. A compromise idea seems to be re-programme alarm into 'B' mode. No auto. arming of immobiliser.

Thanks again for ideas / replies. I'll let you know how it goes. (Bet you can't wait).
