Does anybody know how to switch off the motion sensor on a BMW alarm please?
I followed the instructions and thought I'd succeeded, wheeling the bike in and out of the garage on Sunday with no issues.
When I took the bike out yesterday, however, the motion sensor appeared to have re-activated itself.
I need to switch it off so that it stays off, until I switch it back on again, if that makes sense. I.E. I don't want it re-setting itself to default factory mode, after I've switched the motion sensor off.

Thanx in advance as ever Cpomrades.

You can download the manual.

Aha, I see you followed the instructions, which suggests you have the manual. Try it again.

Cheers. I will do but the bike's about to be put into a container for a short trip abroad so I need to be certain it's done semi-permanently, if you catch my drift.
I don't want to cause customs any unnecessary alarm (Boom-Tish), and I don't want to start my holiday by not being able to start my bike (Boom-Tish again).

I take it you have it set to arm when you switch the bike off? If so set it so you have to use the fob to arm it and job done. Don't think the valet mode is a permanent setting.

Aah right, okay I'll give that a go, thanx.

It would definitely appear to be the case that switching the motion sensor off is only a temporary measure having fannied around with it some more today and having a senior BMW technician look at it yesterday and today.

When bike is in container disconnect battery. It's safer that way and conveniently should kill the alarm. :)

Unless it's a sooper dooper alarm with its own battery. :(

There may also be rules about how much fuel is allowed in the bikes petrol tank.

There are and its supposed to be empty but you try draining a GS tank:eek:

If that fucking alarm goes off when I'm loading the container, I'll silence it with a mallet.....:hammer

I have set mine to only arm when I want it to from the fob, got so pissed off with it self setting Every time I turned off the ignition, not got the manual with or I would have copied it for you,

Cheers. It's all sorted now. Mikeyboy (of this parish) did exactly that to stop it going off when it was in his van being transported to Chris...................
