Any of you good people ever removed a BMW alarm/imobiliser?
If so how, and what are the pitfalls?

It is my bike and its not stolen, (see previous posts about on-going work) I just hate the thoughts of it going tits up and leaving me stranded, and that tiny button on the remote is a pain when wearing gloves.

If the perceived wisdom is that its going to be a traumatic experience with comedy deafening noise then maybe I should get the local dealer to do it?

Don't take it to a dealer, they are quite easy to do.

I had a Meta 357 or something on mine and removed it in about a hour.

Take the tank and seat off disconect the battery and just start tracing the wires and remove them. I had 2 wires that were cut which I had to solder back together. One feeding the fuel pump and one by the conections under the tank. The rest were just piggybacked onto the indicators.
