Having just fitted my Givi 58 Ltr topbox, I've noticed the Givi and BMW keys are of the same design.

Anyone know if the Givi can be adapted to take the BMW key ?

Or can the barrels be swapped over on the boxes ?

Anyone done this mod ?

The keys do look to be the same pattern, however, if you look at the bmw pannier locks the end of the lock cylinder has a fitting that looks like a large flat blade screwdriver that operates the panniers mechanism and appears to be retained with a grub screw , the Givi trk 52 lock has a screw thread at the base of the lock cylinder which is retained by a 6mm nut so I reckon the full lock will not swap over .

BUT I cannot see why if you are competent working with locks why you couldn't buy a bmw pannier lock coded to your bike key then strip out the tumblers from it and fit them into the Givi lock cylinder thus allowing the use of your BMW key.

No guarantees but what the hell , worst that can happen is you end up having wasted the money on the BMW lock and then have to buy a new Givi lock cylinder and keys to replace the one you've buggered up.

HE WHO DARES !
