hi folks, when i bought my gs12 from coopers i was given a key ring with a phone number on,the salesman told me that if i had any problems whatsoever go give this number a call on the back of the key ring and they would recover me.
now my question is ,just what is the extent of the cover, will they come out for say a puncture ,an accident ,or anything that crops up,or is there some small print that says they will come ,but i get a bill for it.
many thanks for your info.

I think there's a fully qualified Counsellor at the end of the line...

You know, for those (hushed voice) 1200 problems that people don't like to talk about in public...

Full details are in the paperwork that came with the new bike - or on the BMW website. However, its pretty good and much like the AA or RAC cover plus it covers Europe. I have used it twice and it was superb on both occasions.

I've called them for a puncture and a suspected flat battery on my Triumph Speed Triple I bought second hand from a BMW dealer, so covered by BMW Assist.

Great service, no bills, and sorted both problems promptly for me.

Think BMW may well have to get used to the word "TRIUMPH" quite soon.....

errr

why not ring the number now from the comfort of your armchair and ask them what is covered. that way there will be no nasty suprises in the event that you need to ring them whilst out on the bike.

...they even help with the tricky issue of where to put your tax disc.

Pretty much anything that results in your bike not moving when you want it to, be it breakdown, puncture, run out of fuel or accident.

BMW assist is one of the better bits about owning a bmw :)

do you think they'd give me advice on what oil to use?

If the number is 0800 777 111 that's probably BMW Assist

If the number is 08457 90 90 90 - that's the Samaritans

Had the misfortune of breaking down on my R1200GS during a weeks trip on-route to the Black Forest. To cut a long story boring, BMW assist were contacted and sent out a recovery vehicle which uplifted the bike on the Saturday and wasn't looked at until I kicked up a huge fuss on the Monday.
There was no option of a service technician being sent to diagnose the problem, and the service from BMW Assist (Mondial) was utter cr.p.
Despite numerous correspondence to their customer services, I have been fobbed off with numerous excuses and an apology.
Bottom line is that whilst in the EU, your bike will be taken to the nearest BMW and be looked at whenever !!! I was informed that the delay in repairing my bike was '' you know what the Belgiums are like''.
I decided to terminate the trip early at a huge cost and disappointment to my 2 mates.
Should you wish to consider this breakdown assistance, and travel in the EU, I would strongly advise you to contact Mondial assistance and ask whether they will cover your bike for breakdowns in the specific country. Mine did not for Belgium.
The bike was eventually diagnosed by BMW Motorrad West Central, Scotland to be the BKms computer thingy, despite BMW Brussels changing the knock sensor (this was a binned and faulty sensor which was put on and the bike broke down within 1 kilometer) and a new fuel pump controller.
I have therefore decided not to renew my BMW Assist (Mondial Assistance) warranty, because in my personal experience and my friends observations were that the assistance offered was deplorable.
Hope this information helps others, but please call BMW Assist to clarify their EU coverage.
