Hi anyone know what these are. Tom tom have told me to fit one to my GS. It is supposed to prevent my TTRider powering on and off?

Oh and how much they cost... Oh I have left three messages for vines of Guildford to call me back... Still waiting.

Thanks in advance

CAN-bus (Controller Area Network) is the on-board network system used on the 1200GS.

If your SatNav is linked into the CAN-bus, it powers on and off with the ignition. I assume by a CAN-bus cable they mean a bypass to connect directly to the battery.

I could be wrong.

If you give Chris a call at Motorrad Concepts on 0131 663 1012 we have them in stock

Thank you

All, many thanks I should have mentioned I am running a 1150 GSA

Stumpy thanks for your response much appreciated.

Dutchman great to speak with you and as you kindly explained Can- bus only applies to the newer 1200 bikes so I now need to go back to TT.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers

Andy,

When I read your message on another thread, I assumed that as the Tomtom employee was talking about a Canbus cable you were riding a 1200 - having done a bit of research, I've found that the main reason that a Rider keeps switching on/off is if there is play between the unit and the mounting cradle. This little bit of play means that the unit is switching between on bike mode and handheld/car mode where you turn it on/off manually. In order to see whether the problem is this looseness or not, it may be worth applying a little bit of insulating tape to the second contact from the left (looked at from behind your Tomtom).

This will then isolate the on-bike mode, meaning that you will need to switch the unit on manually as it won't be done via the ignition - at least then you'll see whether it is a faulty GPS unit or not. An added advantage is that as the Rider doesn't know that it is connected to a bike cradle, you will have access to all the menu features all the time.

BTW, the tatty piece of foam helps keep a firmer connection between the unit and the cradle.
