I offer this feedback only so it might help someone else searching for an improvement on the ( for me ) uncomfortable standard 1250ADV seat.
I’m 6’1”, 21 stone fully kitted, 30” inside leg bare foot and wear thick soled adventure boots on this bike.
I found the standard seat uncomfortable on 2 counts.
1. The back of the seat is strangely high, such that on low/low or high/high the slope pushed me into the tank.
2. The front and sides design of the seat seems wide, making the seat unusable for me on high/high. I ended up on high front, low back which was a poor compromise and still very uncomfortable after 100 miles.
I decided to try the comfort seat because I could get to see and try before buying, unlike most of the others ( at the moment ).
I have found the following:
1. The comfort seat sits horizontal on low/low or high/high. It also seems to have a small front saddle raise which helps with location, so no more sliding forwards down the seat.
2. The comfort seat is definitely cut lower at the back and middle. It also seems to be slightly narrower/lower cut on front shoulders. This makes the foot ground reach a lot more comfortable.
Foam wise it instantly feels firmer , offering more even support.
Overall result, I can happily use this seat on high/high with good ground contact. I did 100+ miles today in far more comfort and could have carried on.
Also note : On low/low or just low at the back, it does leave a large gap to the standard rear seat.
I’m based in Southport if anyone wants to see/try this seat. I’m not saying it’s the best, I haven’t tried others, but it is a huge huge improvement for me.

Can you post pics of the gap?

It is pretty much accepted wisdom over the last four iterations of the 1200/1250 gs/a models, that comfort is best achieved with the standard seats by setting the rear to low and the front to high.

This.

Not tried the std seats but very happy with my comfort seats. 8 hrs days are not a problem, well, least until late into day 3 :-)

I would also add that by fitting cool covers or its chinese clone improves comfort.

Also losing a couple of stone or more puts less pressure on the body.

Alan, yes i know but basic seat design is still uncomfortable for me. too wide and too high shoulders at the front.

sorry, cant post pics , but did find that rear seat can be fitted forwards or rearwards. in forwards position, no gap to front comfort seat in low position. nice fit.

Surely comfortable seating should be the standard on something that costs the best part 15K/16K? When buying a BMW car or any car, you don't expect to have change the seats to be comfortable ? Time BMW got the act together and made their bike seats fit for purpose on their adventure bikes, as they're riders are more likely to travel greater distances per day, or perhaps they're in league with third party seat suppliers ?

If bikes were perfect out the box BMW would sell no farkles to the likes of you and me, wrong in many ways but true as we continue to buy.
