I've moaned enough about the standard seat on the F650 and F800 GS.

Eventually, after much thought, I spent almost £400 on a Touratech one. (0485914)
It certainly felt better ... but I was forced to return it because it didn't fit securely in the rear . ( The front clamped in nicely like a standard one ... but the rear moved about 12 - 18 mm sideways !)

Today my BMW comfort seat arrived and I'm really chuffed ! Its a lot wider than the Touratech or standard offering.
It looks a bit like the 1200 GS seat. I even like the "ridge " between the rider part and the pillion part. It pushes you in the back when you accelerate.

So much difference in comfort .... I really couldn't have expected such an improvement.

Whilst they are an improvement over the standard seat (Anything must be considered an improvement), I still don't think the comfort seat is that great and I still get arse ache.

There must be something better out there for the monies?

For me the BMW comfort seat works fine 350 plus miles in the day, no problem :)

Buy a BMW , then start saving up for all the equipt that should have been put on in the first place....:rolleyes:

Any ideas what the height difference is between the BMW Lowered seat and the BMW Comfort?

I'd be careful of the comfort seat if you're tall. I've recently bought a 650 that came with one, i've swapped it for an enduro seat. the first 100 miles on the comfort seat gave me aching back, there's no room to move around and the position of the seat pushes you too close to the tank. Enduro seat for me anyway is far more comfortable although time will tell.

Just on the seat discussion.

I bought the lowered seat as I'm a short arse. My bike came with the standard seat with a gel pad in it, mega comfortable but too high. I'm wondering that now I've had the bike for 6 months and am more used to it, I may put the standard w/gel pack seat back on for comfort. Hopefully the height issue won't be as daunting now

and although I haven't had any back pain yet ... I have to agree 100 % with him about the riding position ..

:beerjug:Its so up to the individual .Icould imagine if you are tall then the comfort seat might push you too close to tank but being a short arse it suits me great just a bit high but going to lower suspension to compensate just done 800+ miles in three days perfect comfort the standard seat would have crippled me :beerjug:

Comfort seat is an improvement on standard one and if I have all day on the bike putting my old Airhawk on is the answer.

I got my seat recovered for about £100 from Tony Archer.

Its been brilliant since and no bum ache at all !!

Job done !!

Airhawk regular PVC type in the small cruiser size for less than $99 US.
All day comfort, and it doesn't lock you into one position like any "comfort" seat that has a rise on the back.
The Airhawk flows air and sweaty arse is a thing of the past. Dries fast after rain. Once you get the correct amount of air, you
don't even notice it is there, except your wallet feels significantly heavier.:rob
Easily the best accessory I have bought for under $100. Try one. If you don't like it, it will sell fast on any website as a used item.
