Hi, I'm a new GS owner and have just got myself a mint 2006 GS. Is it possible to have the computer fitted as an optional extra or is it a fitted from new toy only ??

Welcome. Anything is possible but I dont think it would be viable at a relistic price. It would probely be cheaper to swap/trade the bike for the one you would like. Maby someone else has an work around for this.JJH

Congratulations on your new bike :thumb2

Computer- Hmm. Got to say that my experience is that they're not particularly good. Mine goes from fuel range of 200 odd to 55 in about 30 miles :blast

Can't say I'd miss it particularly.

hi,i was sold my new GS having specified the computer but it soon became apparant it didnt have it fitted
the dealer tried to fit it afterwards even going as far as getting the different instrument cluster fitted but bmw revealed there are sensors within the crankcases which would make it totally uneconomic to do so

I agree with above.

If I need to write down the exact mileage every time I re-fuel, I don't use the computer but I use the "manual" (trip I/trip II) little black button on the main clocks.

Then and only then do I get an accurate figure for my mile-per-gallon average!!!
