My other half has treated me to a set of BMW crash bars, the lower set. She bought them second hand and although they are in excellent condition and all fittings are included there are no fitting instructions.
They lookfairly simple to fit but to be sure I was wondering if anyone knows where I can download or obtain the fitting instructions for them?

bottom bolt torque setting is 25Nm, top bolt is 9Nm. These are BMW specs.

You will probably find a spacer needs to go between the bar and the metal oil pipe on the left side

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks to the three members who have replied. Between the expanded view and the torque settings you have all provided I'm sure Ican get it all fixed correctly.

Really helpful, thanks!

Just to add to this theme, I have a 1200gs and want to get some bars. Any recommendations. I'd like to have a go fitting them myself. Is it an easy job?

Hi Patboy, I've fitted a set of Hepco and Becker ones. Easy to fit if you have the correct tools (Torx bits). I see you live in London, if you have problems PM me.

Crash Bars

Hi Patboy,

I haven't fitted mine yet as I've been too busy, but it looks an easy job.

If you search the subject "crash bars" on this site you'll find quite a few recommendations for various makes, so you can make your own descision based on that.

Mine are official BMW ones but that's only cause my girlfriend got them cheap from a friend. If we had been paying full wack I probably wouldn't have chosen them.

I live in Herts. about 30 miles north of London, if you need any help fitting drop me a line. In fact if you ever fancy a ride out drop me a line.

Cheers,

Simon

I can highly reccoment the Hepco and Becker bars, fit on in about 15-20 minutes and in Grey/Silver look great on the bike.

I put mine on a week AFTER droping her in the garrage, silly mistake, only slight cosmetic damage but could have been avioded if the bars had been on.
