Does anyone know whether the facory fit alarm can be retrofitted to a 2006 1200GS - ie are the wiring loom / connectors already in situ on the bike whether an alarm is specified or not?

Cant say for sure on the 2006 but you can retro fit on the 2009, I did on mine. Not a plug it together job though as you need the dealer to program the ECU.
I had an alarm fitted by Ocean, on my GS. The TPS unit had to be replaced with a TPS and alarm unit. Then had to be coded in. Check with your dealer.
