BMW gearbox with sidecar drive.

I've never seen one of those before. What did it go on?

I could do with something like that on my 1150GSA (bloomin' great tall, heavy thing :blast).

I used to have to walk my bike backwards up a very gentle slope while seated to get it into my shed, a lightweight reverse gear would have been very handy but would not have had any other use. Not sure how this one would look on a R100GG but I suspect that it would protrude out far enough to be a hazard in terms of trapping your foot in a fall.
 
Putting torque through the gearbox output shaft taper in the opposite direction from normal (as you would with a reverse gear) is likely to loosen the nut on said tapered shaft resulting in no drive at all
