BMW Motorcycle Specialist Now Open

Welcome Mark :beerjug:

We're badly in need of value for money servicing around here :thumb2

And now that you're subscribed maybe Bill can tidy up your first post - wouldn't want potential customers thinking you were still in trouble with the mods ;)

Hopefully he will :augie

Well the website gives you all the details and i'll be happy to take care of any problems yoru bike has, at approx 40% of the price you'd normally pay :thumb

I've replaced the first post from the one in the vendors section... that will give people the info they need if they want to contact you

As Bill has already mentioned the site does not allow spam ads... this will be let stay so as to let people know about you but it's not to be used as an ad touting for business (it's a fine line sometimes but it's the mods call)

What you could do is tell us all a bit about yourself and tell us where you got your experience in dealing and fixing BMW's maybe a list of standard jobs to give an idea of your pricing of services and tyre changing.

Feels like a job interview :D

Trained by BMW while working for Maddocks BMW in ireland, set out on my own 3 months ago

40% Cheaper than the cheapest dealer and obviously a lot less mark up on parts etc

service bookings taken from 2 days in advance and a free courtesy bike is offered ( F800S ) for the day while your bike is getting serviced etc as long as your insurance allows you

Standard jobs on a 1200GS for example

10k & Annual Service - €290
&
20k & Annual Service - €400

so for the most intense service is only €400, if you've history in dealer prices you'll undertsand that one

Thanks again guys

Mark

Mark, welcome and best of luck. I went to drop into you yesterday (just to say hi - no service needed for a good few miles yet) but I couldn't find you. I'm guessing you're somewhere near Power City  but I couldn't see it.

Maybe a couple of big signs would help ??

Aw im sorry to hear that, yes im directly behind power city, there is a business pk behind there through metal gates and im in the corner of there, some red buses parked in here too

I do have signs up, must have missed them

Had 10´000 service reciently on my gsa good job and even cheaper than he orignely quoted. Top job. Just be carefull he wanted 35 per wheel to fit tyers that I had git from Busters. I subose that is what u get from spending so long working at a main dealers. I will b going back for the 20000 sernice but tyers I will fit myself JJH

Good to hear regarding service...as for tyres, it's 35 per wheel if I'm not supplying tyres, 25 if I supply them

I feel that's fair, it's hard to compete with tyre fitters these days with all the mobile crews floating around

Tyres fitted in Coleraine from a tyre place are and £5 if you have loose wheels... free if you buy the tyres from them and have loose wheels.... a wheel takes the guy about 5-10 mins....I'm not expecting it to be that cheap near Dublin:D.

But to me it would make more sense to do a really good deal in something like fitting tyres... A sort of loss leader, that way you get people through your door and are more likely to get more other business out of them.. maybe brake pads or discs at the time or services later... tyre changing ain't rocket science and it doesn't cost you much to do....plus it's clear from one persons response.. they think the price you want is a bit expensive.... maybe not compared to someone willing to pay a BMW dealership.. but you have to remember you're not a BMW dealer and a lot of people are fed up with paying too high prices nearly all the time... it a recession people are most cost conscious because of that.

I may come up with some special offer, but it's not only fitting that's tough to compete with, there's tyre suppliers all over Ireland offering free delivery etc

there's a shop i go to for tyres and admittedly that fact alone gets me to spend more (admittedly on accessories / clothes etc) in his shop than elsewhere, but..
... i see him putting a hell of a lot of time into just tyres - sourcing / sizing / delivery/collection of same / 'appointments' for fitting and the usual 'messers' wasting his time.
i can well understand that for a business that the core of the work is BMUU servicing / fixing - this is not attractive.

bottom line (if it were me anyhow :nenau) would be feckit :P - there's lots doing tyres Very Well :thumb2 / but there's Very Few (if ANY around here  ) doing the same for Beemer riders mechanical needs.

Good Luck with the business Mark. :thumb2

I was happy with the service work and happy with the price specally as he came in under what he quoted and I will b back and will recmonend other people BUT 35 per wheel is not a bit dear it is massive is is huge and I will not pay it. It took me about 10 mins to do the back and 15 for the front without proper equipment ie:I use a bench vise to break down the tyre off the rim. I think anybody is entilted to charge a price for a job and a customer is entilted to employ the service or go elsewhare or do it himself. I am not critising Mark but think he has been in a main dealer for a long time and seen what they get away with but he is not a Main Dealer and the reason I go to him is price not because he is a nice guy but he should charge a relastic price for a job. 70 is too much to fit a pair of tyers so I do it myself. The next time I need a pair of tyers fitted I will phone Mark and ask him for a price. JJH

Did the €35.00 per tyre include VAT.
Was the €35.00 per tyre for loose wheels or wheels fitted to the bike which he would have had to remove?
Did the €35.00 per tyre include disposal of your old tyres?
Would you be happy to see Mark break your beads with a vice?
Was balancing included in the price?
Tyre changing equipment, premises and the normal overheads associated with running a business costs money?

If a BMW trained mechanic is changing tyres I feel it is a waste of a resource which could be put to better use.
From a business point of view Mark would be better servicing BMW's than trying to compete on price with a tyre fitting and supply company.
