BMW Off Road Skills 5/6 March 09

Grinning like an idiot!!

Excellent, was he looking out of the window or was it wasted? LOL

The missus is talking about doing her CBT with World of BMW over two days and we are looking at going together me doing level 2 and her doing her CBT, so I'll have to save up a total of around £1000 for the next course...I'm expecting a fat pay rise in October but unfortunately it'll be too late...March...7 months at around £200 per month could do it, I'll have to work a lot of over time...maybe I will see you there after all....maybe it'll be all booked by the time I've got the cash together....credit card....hmmm:blast

I went up to the local chap who owns a nursery (plants not children) on Saturday to pick up the Mondo Enduro DVD I loaned him in December and the lane going up to his garden centre has loads of mud and ditches as most people obviously go there in their cars and he's too skint at the moment to resurface.
It was awesome just blasting along in the snow through the massive puddles and not only not being scared but actually loving every minute of it.
Doing a back wheel skid to a stop just outside the front door might have been a bit excessive but I was grinning like an idiot again when I got off the bike.
Next weekend I'm going looking for dirt trails.:green gri

TRails

You should join the TRF, they will help with the trails and it supports our cause. :beerjug:

Sounds like there are one or two of us who could get seriously hooked on this off-road malarkey, then!

I'm kicking around the idea of getting a trail/enduro type thing, to practice, fall off, and (hopefully) improve on. Mentioned it to Tamsin, and she thought something like a TTR250 would be good. Cue scouring the classified ads!

I think that's the bike she went to the desert on wasn't it?

Serious

Excellent bike, know a couple of people who have them.

Not the F800GS then? LOL

Mine is a lot smoother than those we rode.

Just fitted my TKC80's, looks the b******s, need to get out on the lanes this week as having withdrawal symptoms.

:clap
They're great eh? Go and get it and yourself dirty then pop into your local biker pub and see the horror on the face of all the power rangers when you just chuck the bike on it's side in the fornt garden and wander in for a cuppa.
:eek
:bounce1
Drink cuppa, effortlessly pick up bike off it's side and blast off across said front garden!

:)

Isn't it nice not to care about the weather or road surface when riding anymore?

I went to Finchamstead the other day and while on the M1 hit a load of stand still cars, instead of filtering I just used the rough ground in the central reservation. :cool

ROFL

Ha ha ha, you mad bugger, you need help!

But I get you, it is as though an inhibition has been removed, weird, but you gotta stay careful, there are a lot of idiots out there mate!

I am attempting to join up with the Icenie Gathering today, could be fun!

Went and watched an enduro yesterday.

Kinell, those boys go for it :eek

Looks a brilliant laugh, but knackering and not for the faint-hearted. Their off-road skills were a bit more advanced than Level 1, too!

I'm planning on going to watch the Dawn to Dusk at Walters Arena (sometime in August, IIRC). Anyone else fancy it? I know it's a long way for some of you guys, though.

This is so good to read. John and I are booked on Level 1 on 26/27 April and it has to be said we're getting nervous. You guys obviously all had a blast! :thumb2

Maybe, where exactly is it? :nenau

You will love it.

It is a little nerve racking before you get there, but once you are in the hands of the instructors you are fine, a great bunch of people, patient, experienced, they go at your speed.

Have fun and enjoy.

Deathiance? Brewers Whoop? zzrman? Is anyone from this course going to Llangollen on the 15th- 17th May?Missus WorkyTicket has green lighted this event for me!:D

Deathiance - Dawn to Dusk info here: http://www.dawntodusk.co.uk/

WorkyTicket - I can't make that one, but I am going to The Gathering of The Clans in Ullapool on 5-7 June, The Horizons Unlimited weekend in Ripley on 18 - 21 June, and The Hograost at Andover on 3 - 5 July.

The Touratech Travel weekend is in two weeks time, just across the road from World of BMW. Tamsin is doing a presentation on the Friday evening.

There is also The Red Marley Hillclimb coming up near Worcester, on Easter Monday.

So lots to look forward to!

Mrsroynie - +1 on what Deathiance said - have a great time.
