I alreadfy got H&B bars,so Bmw or Touratech cylinder protectors ???

BMW cyclinder protectors are too brittle and therefore break too easily, I would go for the Touratech ones.

I just installed the new BMW metal protectors. Just arriving at the dealers. Offer real protection.

Cheers,

How about a picture then Marty ?

Yes Marty lets see some photos. Never heard of any BMW metal cylinder protectors!!

jlabro, what a cracking website.

Now if only they were in the uk i would be straight on to them and give the credit card a bashing.

As for orginal question, I have BMW plastic protectors as a back up to the H&B bars. I didnt think I needed two sets of metal protection.

When I droped the bike in the garage the H&B bard did a fantastic job, no damage to the bike what so ever.

next week i will go to fit the protectors... any new opinions ???

the touratech protects the cylinder better ???

Protectors

Here is another photo. More on the linked web site.. Cheers...

Sorry, can't take a pic. Bike is in california and I am back in atlanta. As stated, they fit quite well with the BMW bars which I had installed first. Took about 10 minutes. Chicago BMW discounts all parts 20%, but don't know if they ship to the UK. How 'bout your moto-bins. I've ordered several parts from them including the service cd.

I saw the BMW metal cylinder protectors for the GS12 in January installed on several demo bikes; IMHO the look of the bike and especially of the engine is awful with these protectors; my dealer told me that he didn't like them because of possible engine cooling problems and furthermore all the mud will stay between the cylinder and the protector for those who love to drive offroads ...at least the TT ones have big holes

Same thing here, both in black, it is just perfect.

I have the plastic ones, but the one on the left has somehow split apart, i don't know whether it is fatigue failure or was fitted too tightly, but they look good, and the protect the cylinder heads when i try to bounce them off car bumpers (twice this week i've done that, my spatial awareness needs re-calibrating!)

And no i didn't break them hitting bumpers :P

I've only tapped the bumpers at walking pace, and the protectors are unmarked

you cannot fit the BMW aluminum valve covers with the H-B bars. Besides, the BMW alum valve covers cost almost as much as the HB bars, if you want to add more protection, Touratechs shown above would work well.
