BMW Paint Sucks

Earlier I posted that the telelever was rusty around the shock mounting plate on a 1 week old bike (stupid design incorporates a depression thats guaranteed to collect water) . Anyway, just inspecting bike further and look under tank only to find a nice line of rust all along where the tank brackets are attached to the inside of the tank. Doesn't BMW know how to paint anything right. My 2 year old Italian bike doesn't have any rust, so how come a 2 week old German is built so shitty. Oh and the telelever has partly crushed/rubbed against the left side oil line.

Just for intrest did you by it from clarkes in b'ham? if so i will be very intrested in their reaction when you report the faults please keep us posted

Must be a QA problem

Mine just had its third birthday not a drop of rust to be seen anywhere.

Take it back and jump up and down till the bits are replaced.

Graham,

I didn't like the sales experience at Clarkes, so I bought it from Wollastons. Can't blame the dealer for this, it's a manufacturing fault. We'll see how Wollastons handle warranty claims.

Sales experience at Clarkes? yes mine lasted almost 40 seconds and i was off to BVM,good news though Wollaston are a good bunch can't see you having any problems there.....

My 2001 GS had rust in exactly the same places as Russells bike, mine were repainted under warranty and I've had no problems since
