Anyone know if the Bmw sockets and plugs are the Hella single pole versions. They look the same on pictures and the Hella ones are cheap!

yes. Hella plug, DIN plug, it's all the same stuff.

Of no use to most of you but here is a copy of a thread I posted last month.
"If you are in NZ or OZ and are looking to buy a plug for the BMW accessory socket then Jaycar (www.jaycar.co.nz) stock these Merit plug NZ$5.90 Cat No PP2090 and panel sockets and adaptors. I have just bought one so I can put my bike on a trickle charger over the winter months. I also bought a panel socket as mine is getting a bit tired. I dare say they are a lot cheaper than from the dealer and are in stock"
