Ive got one of these that i know works ok. I want to try and fix it to my GS 80 Kalahari or my 100 PD. Is it a bit of a task for a non electrical brain to wire it up? Where does the wiring go to and from does anyone know? Would it just have a plug on the loom? Ive got three wires a red/brown/grey with a black line down it coming from the clock.
Anyone help ?

I dont want to fix it to my PD cos its already got a clock! Not thinking!

Thanks omen...
Does anyone have a wiring map of the wire colours please?

I have found a plastic connector/cover under the tank with three wires going to it, yellow brown/blue white/brown. This has three prongs inside the cover. I have taken the back off the clock and the grey wire goes to the bulb, red to a plus (+) terminal and a brown wire to another terminal. Anyone know if i am barking up the right tree or not ? I've only got three inches of wire from the clock, would i be able to get the female connector from BMW assuming this connection is the right one, i'm not sure it is as ar'nt the wire colours suppose to match up?
Any help please ?

I had a look at mine, 1986 mono,

red wire- spare connector on ignition switch
brown & black/grey wires piggyback to the speedo bulb

Hope that helps.

Thanks, but i think mine will be different as its a 97 Basic. I would'nt think it would go via the ignition as the clock is on all the time. I hope that the black square-ish plastic connector i have found under the tank is the one for the clock, then i can just get some wire (not sure what amp) extend the three clock wires and see if BMW till do the female end connector, plug it in and bingo!!

All that of course will never work cos its just to simple!! lol:D

On the '89 100GS I had with the same instrument binnacle as the mono, I added the clock and IIRC I bought a lead from motobins and it plugged into the ignition switch as one of the connections is permanently live and another lead switches the light in the clock.

Good idea John. I will see if i can see a lead/connector on motorworks/motobins see if they look the same as the one i have unearthed under the tank. Surely i am on the right track and it just needs plugging in, if indeed all the looms came ready for the add ons.

Is it that you can only get the loom to go from the clock to the main loom that incorporates the voltmeter wiring as well ?
I think i need to get a new clock to main loom wiring kit if they do them ? Anyone know of anywhere that sells them with a three pin female connector that will go straight on the original loom ? Thanks.

Hi John, mine is a 1997 Basic. I have taken the pod to bits and the bulb/spade connectors will work, but all that nonsence at the other end looks like its for an early loom, maybe it all connects in the head light. The one i want should have i think just one plactic connector that slides into the unused three prong i have found under the fuel tank. I am guessing of course as i know nowt in truth!:D

Something worth considering with your clock is to wire in a switch so you can turn off the clock and avoid battery drain when the bike is not being used for extended periods.

Part# 61121244162

Spot on my friend, i have one winging it's way to me in the next day or two.
It's all thrown me a bit this clock re-wire, as some say that the clock wires upto a spare 3 pin socket under the tank. I located the socket, but the parts folk at motorworks reckon that number you quote is correct, but just has spade connectors that go to a spare live on the ignition, then to earth, then to the lighting circuit. I'll wait til it arrives and have a crack wiring it up then. I'm no electrician but i hope it will be fairly easy. Thanks for your help.
