Went to drop of something for my wife at her work today. Put down the prop stand, leaned the bike over but didn't notice that the road fell away. Left stuck in limbo as I couldn't get off without dropping it and couldn't lift it because of the dodgy knee! Stuck there for about 5 minutes sounding the horn and going purple. Somebody saw my predicament and came to the rescue.

I love this bike and have spent a fortune farkling it and getting it how I wanted.

BUT I have to admit it is just too tall and too heavy for me!

Bought it before the knee problem but I think it would still have been too much for me. Had a 1000 Bumble Bee back in 1990 and assumed it would be similar and I just needed to get used to it.

Anyway think it has to go. Kalahari Yellow, 42k on the clock, Touratech special panniers and top box, T.T. screen extension, spotlights, handlebar pad, BMW tank bag, T.T. foot extender, fitted with alu head protectors as supplied by Mr. S., front mudguard extension, T.T. rear mudguard extension, oil cooler guard, Garmin 2610 and all the fittings etc. (still to be fitted) good Tourance tyres, just fitted new plugs and changed the oil filter and oil. Bought a complete SS bolt set (£150), half of it's been fitted the rest will go with the bike. Bike's toolkit is all present and correct. There will be other bits and bobs I've forgotten no doubt.

Taxed til October and MOT March 2014. Bike runs like a sewing machine.

Bike was bought as a keeper but there you go!

I reckon it's worth £3500 BUT would ideally like to swap it for an airhead or a more road orientated BMW of around the same value. Might be tempted by F series or something else.

I've taken a few shots of the bike for now, let me have your email if you want to have a look. I'll do more tomorrow.

Really happy that I gave my daughter my 20k F650 earlier this year. :blast

Any questions, fire away. I KNOW the patio needs cleaning. :thumb

Apologies; can't see how to edit! Bike is 1998. :hide

Adrenaline levels back to normal. Going to keep the bike and work on lowering a bit. Think having the seat re-sculpted would help most as I feel she's only around an inch or maybe two, too high. I've been switching back and forth between the GS and my '93 sporty which might account for the 'too high too heavy feeling.'

Nothing wrong with the standard shocks, so far as I can tell, seem excellent to me so I'm puzzled by comments about Ohlins and White Power as 'totally transforming the bike.' Had a brief look as a possible cure for the height issue but believe the Ohlins increase the seat height by about an inch.

Advice on seat alterations and further info on shocks gratefully received! :hide

I have had my 1150 seat lowered a wee bit by Tony Archer...if you want to pop up and try it on yours you are welcome....

Sorry I've not been in touch yet - lot of family stuff going on at present. Will give you a shout later next week if OK? :beerjug:

Success! Stripped off the toolbox and gubbins yesterday to see what was what and have now managed to get the seat properly secured for the first time without the pillion portion attached. Just sits a little bit back from the tank but at least it stays on!

Thanks Gerard for your kind offer but think I'm sorted. :thumb
