BMW R65

Found a nice pair of R45's on ebay for you:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-R45-/150597561036?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item2310506acc

Looks like these have been lightened to improve performance.:) The starting price of 99p looks about right but reserve not met and a buy it now of £900:eek:

I rode one once as dealer had one as loan bike (they couldn't give it away so kept it as loan bike). Next time my bike went in, I refused their kind offer and opted to take the bus instead. Easily the worst bike BMW have ever made.:(

Did you notice the power output on the ebay listing.
At least he's not exaggerating.

Well, after all these cruel comments, I can see that I'm going to have to set up an R45 sanctuary and gather all those poor unwanted baby beemers to my bosom. I'm a bit sentimental like that.

(I did see one once with an adjacent reg number to my 1984 Park Lane BMW supplied ST... was wondering whether to make the owner an offer out of a strange sense of consecutive numerology.)

:D

I remember drooling over a r45 at a bike show in the Manson House in Dublin about 1978 or 9. Of course I couldent afford one then. About two years ago I spyed one for sale on this form. A very nice gent had one for sale. He had owned it for the last 25 years or so. I bought it off him and got it delevired to me. He was in the east of England I am in Ireland. Lovely bike loads of spares everything worked as described all ship shape. I could not wait to go for a spin. I am tosser sized small tosser only about 17 stone but that blunted the performance to nill it is the slowest bike I ever rode open throtle = more noise not more go. I nearly got run over on the motorway going to work one morning. I sold it to a guy who took it away in a van. It cured me of rose tinted specticle syndrome forever. JJH

A long time ago I was riding along the cote D'azur on my BMW, and up ahead was another bmw on engilsh plates. As i got nearer i saw the number plate was the consecutive plate to mine, same as mine but one number higher
I gave chase to overtake, which the other rider saw as a challange to his masculinity so he put on his "hurry up hat".

It took a few miles of cut and thrust riding before i got the opportunity to pass, he slowed a bit, i swooped and shot past looking in my mirror for his reaction to the number plate...... He turned right down a side road without seeing the number :blast

Oh well. :D
