Hi, new to forum and new to GS ownership. I already have a problem with my new toy
I ordered the Givi SR 689 to replace the BMW rack has I already have 2 givi boxes differing in size. So all set to put my new rack on and when I remove the 2 6mm bolts either side of the original rack they're just spinning
some Knob has knackered the threads and left it. On inspection, not sure as yet as I haven't stripped the back end down, it looks like they bolt into a nut welded onto the frame. I am presuming somebody else has had this exact problem, I mean seriously a bolt that size on a bike like this to hold a top box rack on ?? I bet a few have snapped off. So what's the option? grind off and weld another nut on ? drill it out to 8mm and tap it. Or has another solution been found in the last 14 years
Thank you in advance and I still love my GS even though I have my first headache
