Hello, as you may have read in my post in the "Show us yours" area, I'm going to pick up my NEW Adv. next monday. I made a search in the forum on this matter and I built up a "my own" opinion, like everybody else I suppose. Since I bought the bike in Germany, I'm sure, I'll receive the BMW Manual in GERMAN, which I don't understand at all, so, I'm curious about what BMW use to reccomend for the "Running in".
Thanks a lot in advance.

Easy - keep it below 4,500 - 5,000 for the first 600miles, then <strike>graduly</strike> <strike>gradualy</strike> slowly increase the rev limit to the red-line by 1,200 miles. Once past the 600 mile mark, short bursts of higher r.p.m until fully run-in.

It's also best to leave it until about 800-900 miles before getting the first service, rather than the recommended 600miles - seems to allow the motor to "bed in" better.

Just watch the oil consumption - some can be thirsty, but seems to get better as more miles are put on the motor.

Some recommend the "ride it like you stole it" approach, but the above seems to have worked for me.

Regarding your log book/riders manual etc, im sure if you ask the dealer nicely they will give you the books in english.

BMW recomend you try and do most of your riding on twisting, fairly hilly roads, rather than motorways etc. and vary the throttle opening and engine speed frequently, and not to go over 4000 rpm.

I got an inported adventure from Holland, and got two sets of books
