I use a Cardo BT intercom just for when I have my wife on board. Will I be able to connect both sets to the Nav so that we can both hear the directions?

Just say tell Siri "Read last message" and afterwards you can dictate your reply.
I use a cardo G4 paired to my iPhone. The "phone" button on the headset connects me directly to Siri for voice dialling, selecting playlists, etc. Works a treat!
I use sure earphones for same reasons and got a 660 not a bmw unit again due to bmw unit not having the port for headphones.
However I actualy use bluetooh as I can connect to phone (iphone and GPS unit), I use a jabra unit which looks like a dog tag, headphones plug into that and it connects by bluetooth to the iphone and the gps unit, the jabra set has a mic and as it sits under my jacket by my throat it picks up voice without much road noise (not brilliant but ok) I can then listen to gps/music from iphone/music from gps etc etc etc. I get about 8 hrs use out of mine and it charges over mini usb.
For me its the ideal solution.

I bought myself a MW600 and it connects to the Nav IV to receive navigation instructions, and to my iPhone for music and phone.
However, when I try to use it to listen to music playing on the Media Player on the Nav IV, I get an error message telling me to "Connect headphones or an A2DP Bluetooth headset".
Do you use your MW600 to listen to music from the SD card on the Nav IV? And, if so, is there a trick to getting it to work together.
I am puzzled, as the MW600 connects via Bluetooth for the navigation instructions, but NOT the Media Player!!!

Sorry to bring up an old thread - but am looking to find a bluetooth receiver like the MW600 that will pair up with the Nav IV located on a Garmin cradle.
Some seem to say the Sony does work, others not.
Does it make any difference if this is on a Zumo 660 or BMW cradle?
I have a BMW nav IV on the LC cradle. And yes, the Sony MW600 will pair with the NavIV so that you can hear directions and music etc.
Only bugbear is that the screen on the MW600 is all but unreadable in any sort of sunlight, which makes it a bit hit and miss when switching between music from the Nav IV or the FM radio on the MW600.

Thank you for a very helpful message. I'm not good with technology so please bear with me.
I've got a new GS TE with the bracket for the BMW Satnav all fitted (but no Satnav). I also have an iPhone 5 with TomTom app which works well but only visually as I have no blue tooth helmet microphones etc. Ideally I would like some sort of device that enables me to:
Listen to SatNav instructions
Listen to music on the iPhone
Receive and make phone calls.
I am not bothered about helmet to helmet communication.
Your suggestion of the MW 600 would seem to deal with the first two points but not the phone call problem.
Before I get jumped on for making calls for riding it is actually more for talking when stopped without having to take the helmet off. I have looked into the BMW communication system but it is quantum leap in cost to buy their SatNav and bluetooth communication system when I already have a perfectly good SatNav on the phone.
The Sena SMH 10 looks like a good option but seems pricey compared to the MW 600 for just having a mic.

So why does the Sena SMH 10 cost £184 and the MW600 cost £25?
The MW600 doesn't have a mike! Just works as an FM radio, or as a means of getting the nav directions or music from your NAvIV to your ears.
The Nav IV will tell you that a call has arrived, but you will need to stop and use the phone to ring them back

I am now totally confused. the attached link which is a review of the MW600 states "Call quality
The microphone for the Sony Ericson MW600 is located on the end of the front of the unit – near where the earphones plug in. For the most part, call quality was good. Users could hear me as long as my mouth was not too far away from the microphone.
Because the microphone is on an external unit that can be clipped onto your clothes, you need to be smart if you want to use this for phone calls and put it at least nearby to your mouth."
So help me here - does it have a mic or not and if it does what is the reason for the massive price differential between the MW600 and the Sena SMH10?

However, I am not sure how you would get the MW600 inside your helmet so that you can use the inbuilt microphone (if there is one there)

MW600 HAS a Mic its located at the front and is near the 3mm jack enters..
below is the answer button..
just plug in your own ear buds, (though it does come supplied with a set, place unit dongle inside jacket,, but a tip.. don't bury it too deep,, just in side a flap on a zip or inside pocket etc
as I said, best used when stopped, The NAV will show you when someone has called.. or you will hear it.
you can walk away from bike it will disconnect itself but when you start the bike and sat nav it connects itself..simples,,,
just used it for a 1400 mile 4 day trip to Germany and it was great,,
I have a Scala G4 on another helmet which is good but I don't like the Ugly attachment and I cant use it on another helmet..
can attach pictures if it helps?

Many thanks to everyone for your help. I am only planning to use it with the iPhone at this stage as don't see the need to fork out £600 for the BMW unit when my TomTom app works just as well. I had a vision that I could attach a self adhesive velcro strip and stick in the mouthpiece of my Schuberth SR1 if it fits.
Still don't understand the massive variance in price between the MW600 and The Sena SMH10.

Sena SMH5 is what I use, works great with iphone for music (I never make or take calls but it will do it ), talks to my zumo 550 and can chat to the boss when she`s on pillion. 
Cheaper then the smh10 , not as bulky although looses a few of the features of the 10 but depends on what your after, battery life v.good too. Highly recommended imo.

Thanks. What is the difference between the 5 and the 10? what is teh main feature that the 5 loses from the 10?

Can`t remember the differences too well but I think main one is bike to bike coms and distance, and better battery life on the 10. I have used the 5 for full day riding and bat life is more than enough for that.
