BMW Shift Assist Pro recalibration / Quick Shifter reset

That looks easy enough.
I will give it a go.

Have you noticed.
He gives a little laugh when talking. Once you realise he does it. I’m waiting for the next one.

He gives reasons for the need to recalibrate.
Mine is 11 years old and lots has changed and nobody has bothered to recallibrate , so will also give it a go .
Never use it though

Out with the lovely Sally today and being conscious of making it a nice ride for one’s pillion I have to clutch change to make it smoooooth. No way any quickshifter I’ve ever had can do that. I mean, it feels like you jettison part of the bike’s under carriage and hers for that matter without it!

QuichShifters were never meant to make a bike an automatic of any kind. They are specifically designed to produce quick shifts when riding at a fast pace. They are not meant to be subtle. They can give a smooth gear change at normal riding pace but it's not a given that they will. People are actually using it between 1st - 2nd - 3rd, this introduces extreme shock to the gear dogs, totally unnecessarily.

You are absolutely correct that the QS was designed to kill the ignition for a fraction of a second, to reduce the loading on the gears to make it possible to change up without losing any more revs than absolutely necessary, so it's the delta or revs step between gears that impacts the lower gears with the QS.

Get the motor spinning and it should be super smooth. If you red line in the lower gears and use the QS it's smoother than mid revs in my experience.

The blipper does the reverse automatically, but the principle of rev matching or double d clutch if you're really old is much the same as they too reduce pressure on the gears..

FWIW I rode the new 1300 GSA Auto and that was properly clunky - I mean really really nasty so even an auto has it's challenges.
