Some time ago I bought a used small "GS" tank bag and want to use it on my 1200 ADV, it doesn't appear to be a straight fit,the bag sits fine on the tank and the front fixing fits the loop on the headstock fine, the problem seems to be the lower mount at the base of the riders seat is not quite long enough, I can think of a way to bodge it by rotating the metal bracket and drilling additional holes and using spacers and longer bolts in the existing tank panel mounts but it seems a "bodge it" way to do it, have any of you fitted the official BMW part small GS tank bag to an ADV, how did you do it-got any pics?

Humvee.
Have you any pics of what you have bracket wise, I use a small touratech tank bag on my GS ADV, fits with 2 metal hooks at the front under frame tab at the steering head and velcro at the rear around the bracket, safe and secure, been on bike for last 5 yrs with no problems at all. I can take some snaps tomorrow if you want.
If required i have a spare bracket T shaped bracket that fits at rear of tank you can have.
Let me know either way.:beerjug:

I bought the lower zip part off the adv tank bag from my friendly dealer ..!
Which hooks underneath the panel.
That worked ok but I had problems with the two zips some times,So I got the zip off the GS lower part sewn on to the adv lower part, now its perfect..!
Until the new LC gsa comes out then we start again.

I Have the small tank bag on my 09 GS, not and ADV and will send you a couple of pictures over of the mounting tomorrow if you like. Dont think they did a small bag just for the ADV only the standard GS. Have a look at this site if you look up various parts on different bikes even the tank bags. Found it useful http://www.ascycles.com/BMW-Motorcycle-Parts-Fiche.aspx

I already have a TT day trip (?) tank bag so can see how that fits, the small GS bag fits fine at the steering head in a similar way, I am having problems with the other fixing at the rear, thanks for the offer of the part I may take you up on that if I get no joy from my BMW dealer, I think I have identified the part number from the large bag which I think I may be able to adapt to the small bag, I'll be in touch if I need to re-think this, thanks :thumby:

Got the small bag to fit then ADV and it was quite easy, I ordered part no; 71607709207 described by BMW parts as a tank bag "shackle" :nenau

I mixed components from the original ADV bag "shackle" and the 1200GS bag "shackle" to end up with this-the rubber/material wrapped metal hook returned under the tank cover panel.........

Coupled with the sticky velcro pieces this arrangement seems quite secure and doesn't look too bad, so if you want the small GS bag on your ADV this is one way of doing it and not a bodge in sight. :thumby:

Take a standard GS Tankbag and very carefully work the mounting bracket to fit onto the mounting points of the GSA.
The result should look something like this :

...if I have uploaded the file correctly!

Not that its much use to you but mine will be going up for sale later, but sadly with its bag!
