i recently acquired a bmw tankbag for my adventure - the only part which was missing was the " knob tape self sticking " - yes guys thats the description in the manual - is this double sided tape necessary - i assume it prevents movement - one other thing - are these tankbags paint friendly or do i have to cover the tank with a cloth of some sort prior to fitment

Tank bags

I have a BMW tank bag. it hooks onto the front of the tank and has a zipped piece by the seat mounts which you zip it in too.

It has a set of foam pads on its base. I have used it a fair amount and not had any problems with marking the tank etc.. the foam is fairly thick and soft.

I dont know anything about sticky tape though.. i dont have any on the tank thats for sure..

Hope this helps..

The double-sided tape is only required to attach a velcro pad which keeps the zippered portion in place at the front of the seat, assuming you wish to leave it there when you remove the tank bag.

Regards,

Charles

thanks for that guys - the bag looks pretty cool though the map bag on top is not quite large enough for a decent map

Map bag !

Ahh, but it does rotate so you can view both sides !

Having bought the Beemer tankbag for my Adventure (sight unseen), it is bloody small when fitted on the tank. Like a zit on my backside.
Unfortunately, I grew up with a Harro Elefantboy bagbag on the old 2-valver in which my tent and other gear fitted in and I was also slimmer at the time.. Now, the new'un will only hold my wallet.

oblertone - i didn't actually think of the benefit of the reversible map bag - but to answer your question yes it does rotate !!
