Has anyone had a warranty claim refused because the bike had an aftermarket can or had been 'chipped' etc?

Starting to think about a Remus can & Y-piece, but don't want to give them an excuse to say 'tough' in the unlikely event of a claim.

Best check with your dealer, but providing the modifications are not a contributary factor to the claim, you're OK. That's what I was told anyway.

I fitted remus tit race and y myself, took it to Jeffires for warranty replacements of wheels and fork brace and the fork lowers, no problem at all, Michael did mention that 'we fitted your pipe didn't we.' but was just taking the p@#@ No problem at all. As scurrel says, as long as the aftermarket bit hasn't a direct effect on the replacement bit...

If you've got a Y piece,Race Can,Techlusion box and have Eprom Chip fitted and the motor blows to bits, the BMW boys @ Bracknell
may take a dim view and give one short shift on a warranty claim to repair or replace it.
You pay your money and takes your chance when modifying a bike with parts not officially sanctioned by the relevant manufacturer.
Some are ok about it,others are not-it's their choice, not yours whether they approve a warranty claim or not.The small print says it's 'their discretion'.
