Hi All,

Planning a ride that will take in dirt/gravel roads and hopefully not any rock hopping.

Looking at aftermarket belly pans to give me a bit more protection.

After reviewing options online I can't find a real way to distinguish any price/quality/performance (I know a lot is subjective). I have a preference but was seeing if anyone that has used aftermarket belly pans on a GS/GSA can give me their thoughts on what they have used?

Cheers.

BMW Enduro, Wunderlich, Puig, Touratech, SW-Motech, Alt rider etc etc

There's 2 i have had my eye on which appear to offer good protection - but i have no experience of using them.

The Wunderlich covers higher at the engine side of things & the headers. However it does not look as rugged/protective as the TT option.

The Touratech looks more robustly fitted and stronger - however it does not protect the exhaust headers. Although to get protection is not overly pricey at £50 for those link here

I only wanted one for light trail and road use so went for the Wunderlich one in black from NN. Very good quality and it offers superb coverage. Mounts on the existing points and doesn't snag on any front fender extender. There are probably more robust ones out there for serious off road use, but was perfect for what I wanted.

The WL do look good, I personally am leaning towards the SW Motech. Though now I see the WL has the engine guard that goes up the front of the motor built in is something to consider

Yes, Looking at them all, just so hard to differentiate without any experience with them

Why not order them to see what they look like & feel like in person? Most places will have free returns/you pay the postage back - probably worth the small outlay for such an expensive item!

Depending on where you're located some local shops may have them in stock/can order them in for viewing.

So one more I hadn't seen but I have decided on is the AXP Racing bellypan.

I have the bmw enduro one fitted and it’s as soft as toffee so cross that off your list.

Cheers for the feedback. Well at least it looks as good as it tastes :)

Though having malleability may actually work in your favour if you do give your bike a solid whack it will give a little and deform before passing the energy in to the block/bike.
So probably less likely to cause damage to bolts and the associated thread. I haven't looked but are the threads direct into the blocks or are the threads manufactured and inserted in to the block, so two different metals pieces?

I have ordered the AXP Racing one, its 8mm plastic and from what I have heard, plastic works as good if not better as a belly pan and these guys do them for all sorts of full on off road riding (trials, enduro, mx etc).

Will post some pics when i do the install.
