Can anyone help me please!! Last October I bought my 2007 R1200GS from Clarks of Birmingham included in the price was a BMW warranty valued at £195, recently BMW invited me to renue this at a huge increase £310 for the year, why so much and is it worth me extending the warranty as BMs are supposed to be bullet proof!! Cheers.

Warranty

Decisions, decisions:comfort
Peace of mind, I have always renewed the warranty when it is due, this will also give you full Bm breakdown cover:D
You only need one problem and it will probably blow the £300 straight away, like any insurance, when you don't need it, it seems a waste, but when it's needed, your glad you have it.
Pay via D.debit monthly, only equates to a tank of fuel a month.

I have just purchased a BMW warranty for £370 from BMW. You pay an initial deposit of £35 then the rest over 12 months. I did quite a bt of research and there are cheaper ones but they have lots of weasel words that means they won't pay up. Bear in mind that there is is a compulsory 30 day period between taking it out and the insurance becoming effective and any pre existing issues will not be covered. So for instance if there was an advisory on a recent service i.e. your front wheel bearing is worn and it hasn't been sorted then it won't be covered.

Got mine free with bike as it was an Approved Used BMW, usual concerns abour renewal as i could save £300 by not renewing it and maybe a few more quid by doing simpler service work myself so could equate to £500 a year.

The I read on here about the FD's often failing at under 20k and costing about £1500, FPC's \ EWS and pretty much any other electrical system being about as reliable as those on 1970's Ducati's and a whole host of other fairly common faults and perhaps it is worht the extra £500 to keep a full warranty and the book stamped.

My only real gripe is the extorionate £100 an hour labour rates of most BMW dealers, when you consider most car main dealers charge @ £70 an hour it seems the BMW ink does indeed cost about £100 per stamp.

How risk averse are you? This only you can decide. I opted not to take the warranty and do my own servicing as well. So far in the last 11 months in this position I have saved about £250 on service costs and £330 ish on the warranty. My FD failed but the repair only cost £260 and BMW paid for that anyway and that with the bike out of warranty. The money I saved is sitting in a savings account earning albeit a small bit of interest which will be kept and added to, later to be used for any expensive repairs if required. If I don't use it, the balance will go to the new bike fund. :)

£195 is what it costs the dealer to purchase a BMW Approved Used Bike (AUB) Warranty and £310 is what it costs the owner to purchase the same policy

My bikes covered with the bmw warranty but I still had to pay just short of £160 for an indicator switch. I phoned BMW and they confirmed that the switch is, and I quote 'indicator is part of upholstery and trim'
I will be cancelling my policy.
