This one is firmly in the "You don't ask, you don't get" category...

Like Hens Teeth, lightly garnished with Rocking Horse Poo, so rather unlikely I know, but anyone got one of the large Touratech Tanks or an X Tank kicking around that they're not using and that they'd like to swap for some money?!

Apparently there are only a hundred or so Xchall in the UK currently so parts like this a rare indeed. A tt One did come up on here and it now sits on a shelf in my garage. But thats the only one I've seen. Can you still buy them new?

Yeah, 100ish in the UK and less than 3,000 ever built worldwide so, as I said, it's a bit of a long shot!

Saw one come up a while ago (possibly the one now adorning your garage shelf damn you!), but I hadn't secured my XC by that time and I felt a bit of a pleb looking to buy accessories for a bike I didn't have so let it pass!

You can still buy them off the Touratech website for £500+ but I believe they've stopped production now so there can't be that many left. No hope of them being discounted though to clear the old stock! They were made for TT by Safari Tanks in Australia so maybe once the (presumed) exclusive TT licence has expired they may sell them... although as you said the numbers of bikes around are so small that it's probably not worth their while.

If the X-Tank wasn't quite so expensive that'd be a great solution for me, but it just seems like an awful lot of money for what it is, craftsman-like workmanship and good design aside.

Currently the only thing making me swing more towards taking the 1150GSA to the Pyrenees again next year as opposed to the XC is the limited fuel range. Yes the seat will kill my arse, but I can endure a few hours of hardship to get to the trails, after which I'll be stood up all day anyway. Maybe I'll go with a couple of RotoPax fuel cells or something for £100ish quid and just stop and fill up when needed. :nenau

Pyrenees you say! Went in September and the numb arse is a much bigger problem than fuel! Fecking great bike for the trails there. Already planing my next trip fitting a new seat first then maybe the tank and some wind protection. What month you going?

If you decide to buy a new TT unit, find a friend who lives in Belgium or Germany and purchase it there.

When I bought mine I phoned TT UK and discussed the relative cost in UK and Europe. After a bit of arm twisting we came to an agreement on the price which was almost equivalent to the cost in euroland plus postage from one of my overseas friends. In the end I bought in the UK as the small price difference was offset by the ease and security of using a UK supplier. Still not happy that they insist on trying to charge us more but definitely worth calling to haggle.

So I don't use TTUK.
The money I save by shopping in EU pays for me to have a visit to 'collect' and ride a few trails whilst there.....:thumb2

Hmm not sure yet, will probably be July again though as that's worked out well for us on the last couple of trips over there.

Bit of write-up of the 2012 trip here: http://transenduro.co.uk/transpyrenduro/

Yeah, I might collar Mr Plumb at the NEC show and see if I can twist his arm in that direction, I've had the conversation with him before on another product to no avail, but it's always worth another go!
