Apparently there are only a hundred or so Xchall in the UK currently so parts like this a rare indeed. A tt One did come up on here and it now sits on a shelf in my garage. But thats the only one I've seen. Can you still buy them new?
Yeah, 100ish in the UK and less than 3,000 ever built worldwide so, as I said, it's a bit of a long shot!
Saw one come up a while ago (possibly the one now adorning your garage shelf damn you!), but I hadn't secured my XC by that time and I felt a bit of a pleb looking to buy accessories for a bike I didn't have so let it pass!
You can still buy them off the Touratech website for £500+ but I believe they've stopped production now so there can't be that many left. No hope of them being discounted though to clear the old stock! They were made for TT by Safari Tanks in Australia so maybe once the (presumed) exclusive TT licence has expired they may sell them... although as you said the numbers of bikes around are so small that it's probably not worth their while.
If the X-Tank wasn't quite so expensive that'd be a great solution for me, but it just seems like an awful lot of money for what it is, craftsman-like workmanship and good design aside.
Currently the only thing making me swing more towards taking the 1150GSA to the Pyrenees again next year as opposed to the XC is the limited fuel range. Yes the seat will kill my arse, but I can endure a few hours of hardship to get to the trails, after which I'll be stood up all day anyway. Maybe I'll go with a couple of RotoPax fuel cells or something for £100ish quid and just stop and fill up when needed.
