No insurance companies seem to list a BMW alarm. I hate alarms too, loads of hassle. I have a Laserline Cat 1 alarm fitted to my R1150R, and it's caused me loads of gyp. Went off at random and even left me stranded on one occasion because it deprogrammed it's self in the middle of Guildford
It's been fixed now, but I've lost confidence in it TBH.
Trouble is that the alarm knocked £150 off my premium! At the time I thought I'd rather pay £300 for something I actually own than be robbed of £150 to an insurance company
Now I'm not so sure I'd bother. Mine was being trailered home by an unmarked van with the alarm blaring and nobody batted an eyelid. That said, They have their plus points. If I was sleeping in my tent and someone tried to nick my bike, I'd know about it!
What a pain that the BM ones aren't thatcham approved though! I'm looking at one with an alarm today and frankly I wouldn't have one if it didn't change my insurance, better ask about a tracker instead.
MIKE R, Sounds like you've got a Cat 1 on there, that's exactly what mine does. Maybe they came to their senses on the new bikes?
