Hello evrybody, another newbie joins the club...
The 19 may this year my Varadero (2800km new) and I met this prat in a Gelenderwagen in a roundabout and guess what, I lost. My nice new Varardero become very secondhand in fact a write off. My dearly beloved also drives the mc so she was a bit p****d off specially that early in the season – me too but the titanium in the left wrist said I was’nt driving for a while no matter what.
The 1200 had just been announced so of to the BMW shop in Oslo. Hmmm, sorry pal, we’ve sold ‘em all, the man said. One more coming in the autumn he said. Could’nt even test drive one – nuffin’. Can’t wait most of the season before getting a replacement, so off I went and bought another Varadero – everybodies happy, specially the wife!!.
Started reading this forum about a week ago – got me thinking so I rang the BMW people again only to told that - yes I could have a test ride and - yes there was one 1200 still available hmmm……
Saturday dawned with blue sky and sunshine, so off we go on the ‘dero to try the 12.
First I ride with the boss on the back and surprise surprise, found that I liked it (have only experience of testing both the 1150 and 850 – RT variants) Stop the bike install the boss one front and send her off into the sunset (yeah yeah, she found her way back….) the poor lass thinks the 12 is as uglyyy as bikes get but she could'nt fault it in any other way – so….
Sometime in the next 3 weeks or 4, we pick up our new steed – red/black – don’t be too hard on us abot the colour guys, it’s the only one they have – sorry – had.
Guess what, we can’t wait……..
