I need to fit new tyres and at the same time it would be ideal to fit bolt-in valves so I can use the tyre pressure sensor thingies that will work with my Zumo 590 ... are the valve diameters needed for the GS all a common size? The bike is an '06 but fitted with later GSA spoke wheels, one of the wheels was originally fitted with an o/e tyre pressure sensor if that makes any difference?

When I managed to snap my tps valve I replaced it with a standard car rubber valve, guess that would indicate it is a standard size. Bike is a spoked wheel 09 GSA.

Thanks :thumb2 Rubber valves now but when the tyres were fitted the fitter may have chosen ones to suit from a selection he had :nenau So far I'm finding bike-specific bolt-in valves available in 8, 8.3, 10 & 11.3mm! I thought car valves were pretty standard though.

I use the bike pretty well daily so it's not ideal to start trying to source valves after the old tyres are off, which would be easiest I guess, anyone know the correct size for a GSA hexhead?

Not sure if it's much help, but on the 1150 spoked wheels the hole is 11.3mm dia.

If it's any help the pressure sensor valves use a tapered rubber ring seal. It's not exactly an o ring though a valve with o ring at the base would probably work.
Both times I used metal valves on a bike they leaked at the base. Ordinary rubber based valves including one with a metal stem were also ok. See https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130382205274
My GS has only ever had the OEM pressure sensors valves.

Ordered some 11.3mm angled ones in black from m&p... fingers crossed they'll fit

Thanks for the help :thumb2

Replacing Batteries in TPM's.

Hello Bendy,

I am changing tyres this week and will also replace both batteries in the TPM's. One works OK, the other has come up a couple of times but is normally off which could be a duff battery or loose connection maybe? Anyway I am due to change both batteries, my question is when I remove the assembly the tapered o ring could fail when re-inserting I am led to believe. Can the old o rings be replaced with new at the same time the TPM's are removed? Is it an easy job? Is it worth doing it? And if so does anybody know where I can source?

Cheers, Al.
