Whilst fitting a Y peice yesterday i found this, well it it found me as i removed the Cat from the bike it fell out, from where i do not know, i have had a good look under the bike and engine and cannot find where it has come from

Looking at the state of it, covered in mud (i did clean some off) it has been there for a while, now the favoured option is that it was flicked up whilst either off roading or whilst out and about, or the nor not so favoured option it is from the bike somewhere

Can anyone tell me - Does it look like it belongs or not, written on the head of the bolt is "verbus" and "129" heres a couple of piccies :thumb

Thanks Adrian

Well ! wosit then ?

Looks like a blanking bolt thats sometimes fitted in place of where the lamda probe locates on a Y piece.

(On second viewing it might be too small )

Don't know what bike you've got, but it looks like one of the rear bash plate bolts. Where bash plate is bolted to frame not engine.

You didn't say how old your bike is, but they stopped using the VERBUS 129 bolts in 2001 I think (the previous 128s were longer but more prone to metal fatigue due to the torque settings needed).

The 129s were originally used for holding at least two plates together, but due to their usage location and shorter length they would come loose quite easily - within 3,000 miles. As they weren't important individually (4 were used for the mountings) if they fell off WMB wouldn't have them replaced until the next service schedule.

I'd not be too bothered, but make sure WMB instal another at your next service.

Cheers,

Neil. :mmmm

I'll assume that it is not from something major, or from something that is going to bugger up the bike, Until something other than me falls off

I feel a trip to CW's coming soon

Cheers and thanx for the replys

Adrian
