Bolt sheered trying to install X-Heads. What now?

Managed to get it out with a center punch and some patience. Thanks everyone for their advice and help. Does anyone know what the proper torque settings for the valve cover are?

Haven't got my Haynes to hand, but before having this I took the torque from the instructions/install video, which states that the T50 bolt is 10nm. The T25s are simply nipped up, so probably around 3nm. As said in the video, I found that the T50 was a fiddly to start, so as I was paranoid at cross threading I took my time in threading, and kept the torque to 8mn. Just wonder if the problems that have arisen on this thread might be from a wee bit too much torque?

Been watching this thread with interest, reason is when I had my last service done at the dealers, they commented that with the head protectors fitted. Said that I had over tightened the cover bolt, the subject of the OP's post, said this was due to trying to torque the bolt with the X head protectors fitted and I was squashing the rocker cover gasket too much.
They did not say want I should do about it as it was not leaking or need replacing. :nenau

You used the original BMW bolts instead of the longer xHead supplied bolts ?

I did exactly the same thing two days before my European trip in the summer, I was almost physically sick about it all. Like you I eventually managed to tap it round with a sharp screwdriver and a drift. I was charged £12.50 for a new bolt and took things very easy when referring those covers.

Yes the covers from NN come with longer bolts that said they only need nipping up due to their inherent weakness.

Mine too, though nothing was said about simply nipping up. Tempted to reduce the torque from 8mn,
