Greetings Guys. I need new boots. I'm looking at MX style but think most of them are too stiff and heavy, also I want them watreproof. I have looked at the BMW X/touring boot it's the same as the Oxstar (wich are£30 less) and two of our other instructors have them and I don't want to look the same. what boots do you guy's use?

Maybe not the fashion item some boots are but I love my Altberg
made to measure boots ! Totally waterproof, took a month or so to break in but fabulous , they also do a total refurb when they eventually need it, not just a resole !

have a pair of alpinestars "vector" moto-x boots, they look big and cumbersome but i find them excellent / anything but cumbersome. have worn them on sports bikes and changing gear is fine....the protection they offer is excellent.


£170 or so - worn them for 18 months and they look the same as when they were a month old. i estimate they will still be in use in another 18 months of commuting....

umm - they aren't waterproof though - i like them so much though i wouldn't change - i just wear goretex socks (£30 or so) and dry my boots in a few hours with "dryzone" bags (like silica gel stuff seeled in a beanbag - regenerate in the microwave or on a radiator... get it from good outdoorsy shops)

Used to use Sidis, a pair of Black Rains lasted me about 4 years. Then I couldn't get Sidi at my local shop so I bought Oxstar - same sort of price (about £130) and seem just as good.

I am on my second pair of Alpinestars Stage GTX. They keep my feet dry in the rain and are plain black, which I prefer.

I use plain black - Hein Gerike Tuareg Enduro boots - Goretex lined totally waterproof - about £140 .

Altberg all day long and as has been said they do a refurbishment for £40 I think once the boots get tatty.

8yrs and lots and lots of miles on my Daytona Roadstars.....top boots. Pricey, but I don't mind that for kit that lasts so long.

Comfortable on bike, not the best for walking around in though nor 100% waterproof but Gortex socks sorts that one

Personally I've always rated safety over comfort and have always worn MX boots what ever type of bike owned.
The more 'traditional' style of boots just do not provide the level of protection I want.

I'll be looking at Tech 10's when my 8's are knackered, or pos. even Vectors as they should both be a bit more comfy than 8's but offer similar or better levels of protection.
