I've just been thinking about that very question in regard to cans, and from experience aluminium sleeves can be harder to maintain as the material can dull and if it's a matt finish certain abrasive cleaners can leave "scratches".

I personally would go with stainless steel.

Just a few questions: with this Bos exhaust installed is there any problems with the panniers ? I mean do the panniers fit on the bike without any problems and is there a risk that the plastic of the panniers will melt ?

No problems regarding panniers Marco, but don't expect your numberplate to last more than a few thousand miles...

I fitted yesterday night the stainless Bos exhaust (Thunder forced me to buy one ; not the full system only the can; half an hour and the job was done; good quality and fits perfectly well; not very difficult to install; no problems with the pannier; there is indeed a larger gap between the silencer and the pannier; first impressions after a very very short ride: sound is of course better (much deeper sound) but very impressed (and pleased) that it was really not too loud, I expected more noise but it is just a very little bit more noisy than the stock silencer; the neighbourhood will surely not protest; after this very short ride I can say that there is surely more torque at lower revs but could not feel (yet) any significant extra power;
will now test the bike for a longer ride

Out of interest were the noise levels with the db killer fittted or removed?

with the DB killer fitted, Thunder;
there is a small screw to remove the DB killer and a weld that you have to break !; therefore removing it is easy but refitting it might be annoying

My full system should be here any day now. I would doubt that you would notice any power increases with the can alone though ?? Maybe wrong on this........

Well it's just seat of the pants data but I've tried different variations of full, replacing front pipes with stock end can, end can only and finally today the entire system and the "biggest" difference seemed to be replacing the front pipes to ditch the cat.

I was very pleased with the results with the stock can and Remus front pipes, so much so that I decided to not bother with fitting the Laser end can at all, that was until I removed the bubble wrap after drilling out the rivet that holds the "legal" baffle in place and found it had a mark on the rear side. Even though it is not seen when fitted I decided to hang on to it and fitted it this morning.

Very pleased with the results. Slipped on easily to the Remus headers and while noiser than stck, not to the point of being offensive or producing a drone.

Early days yet as I'm still running the bike in but can detect a difference to the throttle response already.

I'm not looking for a big gain in horse power, but can't wait to try it out on "full" throttle.
