After years of suffering Rukka’s useless braces, I had Hideout Leather replace mine with their own.

So impressed am I, that I’ve taken two more pairs of Rukka trousers up there to have the same ‘operation’.

Do the same with confidence.

I don't know about Rukka, but it's the silly clips that Klim have that wind me up. Why not something that pokes through, folds over and velcros to itself?

I have to remember to slip my Klim braces off my shoulders before I sit down otherwise they are flailing in the wind. Buttons or loops with Velcro would be ideal.

I’m still reeling over the premature failure of my last Rukka suit trousers and leaky WP gloves that I won’t be buying again.

Three pairs of rukka trousers!!?

I had no issues with Rukka braces on my Nivala trousers but the Klim braces that came with my Kodiak trousers are total shite!
I use a webbing belt that goes through the waistband nicely but I would prefer to use braces.

How do Hideout do it?

I have Klim badlands with braces that have velcro tabs that loop around loops that are sewn into the trousers.
My Marrakesh trs don't have any provision for this, so was thinking of getting the same kind of thing done. If the Hideout solution is better then I'll do that.

You have two choices.

1. Have their bespoke braces sewn in.

2. Done so the bespoke braces are removable.

Have you had removable? Do they use buttons, clips or velcro? or something else?

Adventure braces. Now I’ve seen it all. Slippers next?

What's wrong with Rukka braces? Never had Rukka trousers, but had thought about getting some to match my Nivala 2 jacket

Braces on my Bering Hurricane pants are just fine . Brilliant kit and cost 1/5 of what previous Rukka Nivala cost

I have always found that the plastic gripper slider piece, that sets the length of the braces, slides down during the day. I end up safety pinning it in place. The elasticated strip could stand being wider, too. I’ve always had a problem with them for as long as I can remember; others don’t or they just wear something else, as Rukka is crap.

But hey, each to their own.

I’ve never had an issue with Rukka braces. I’ve never had an issue with Klim braces - on my Badlands and my Baja S4 the clips aren’t necessary, the troops have loops specifically for the braces to thread through.

If I had to choose between them, I’d say the Klim ones are better because the slider as that adjust the length don’t slip at all.

More worryingly, I struggle to come to terms with the fact that I’m contributing to a thread about braces - and I have an opinion.

Age is a terrible thing…

I use the standard Rukka braces on my Nivala 1 and 2 pants, which just work as I would expect them and I don’t notice them when wearing. Unlike the ones on my Halvarssons Wish pants, which I find quite uncomfortable.

Got some heavy duty braces a few years back. Good clips, nice wide straps. Ideal for Hood biker jeans.

Trouble is, wearing them reminds me that rather than a waist, I have a circumference.

And it’s pretty much constant from my rib cage to my arse.

Which is why a belt doesn’t really work.
