Hi guys & girls,

Very new member looking to get into adventure riding. I've seen a couple of GS at Viva Moto, a dealer in Bradford and woundered if there are any GSers kind enough to pop in there and give them a short apraisal for me. For a beer of course, and not one of those flat virtual drinks either.

They have 4 at the mo, a 1150GS, 2 x 1150GSA and a 1200GS. The 1200GS looks rough to my novice eye and the other three look about right for their age and mielage. I have my eye on the older of the two 1150GSA and am not put off by its frayed edges as i shall be putting alot of mielage on it in all weathers.

My Ducati is in for an MOT on Monday so am going to have a quick spin over afterwards and have another look.

Regards

Matt

hi mate

sisters bloke had some issues with a bike they sold him this year (KLE500), cant remember exact issue, but they did a repair (might have been fork seals) and ended up scratching some painted panels on the bike. I know he ended up decidedly pissed off with them.

might not bother you but thought i'd mention it as a slight word of caution.

Thanks for the heads up,

That's exactly the kind of info I'm after. I guess you can check a bike over as much as you like but it can still go pop.

The dealer however is a big factor.

no probs, i think theyre cheap for a reason but to be honest ive never been, a know another lad who looked at a few bikes there and decided they werent quite the sellers for him they sound like they sell a lot of bikes on very tight margins, imo you would be better off buying private from a seller on here.

Am busy this weekend Matt but should be able to find some time Mon/Tues if you're available and want to meet up there.

Don't go rushing in - it's a buyers market at this time of year and you're always as likely to find a decent one on here.

ps - whereabouts in Bfd is this dealer by the way?

What do you want to do?. I live near Glossop so can be there in an hour.

Awesome guys,

Please don't go putting yourselves out by traveling on my part. I was fishing to see if anyone lived local to them who could take a glance.

As you say, it's a buyers market. There's a few I'd like to check out.

I work in Liverpool and there's a 2005 1150gsa SE I am going to take a look at too.

Will have to meet up with you all soon. Will probably be on the Ducati though.

Bought a Triumph Scrambler from them a couple of years ago, the bike was in mint condition and priced lower than any other i had seen. They were good to deal with. Guy who owns the place said that they get most of their stock from other dealers when they get a trade in that is not their type of stock. BMW from a Harley dealer for instance.

Viva moto

Bought my 1150 GSA off them 2 years ago. It was in god condition but not sparkling as you might find in say Allan Jeffries shop, but then again who do you think is funding his nice shop.
Straight to deal with and the bike was good value for money. Test rode it for 2 hours, but only got a standard 30 day warranty so bit of a risk I suppose, but thats the same with a private buyer.

Cheers guys,

I guess some have good dealings, some bad. That's universal.

The one I was looking at isn't pristine, but that's not what I'm after. The only doubt I have is the top box light was spliced into the loom and it's had extra lights that were removed and the ends left open. Not a big job to rectify but electrics give me the heebygeebies.

bought my GS from them last year,

I put a deposit on the bike without seeing it as they gave me a very detailed an honest description over the phone and assured me I could have my money back if I found the bike wasn't as described. needless to say I was happy with it when I arrived to pick it up.

I had a faulty starter on the bike and although they weren't the easiest to deal with they did pay for the repair with no argument when I had it fixed at Pidcocks.

they gave me a 6 month warranty on my bike and overall I was happy with the deal.
