Bradford?

It would be bad enough having to work in Yorkshire.... You wouldn't want to live there as well!!!
30 minute commute would get you in to Gods own Lancashire. Where the maidens are fairer, the beer is nicer and every sentence isn't punctuated with that annoying bastardisation of speech "t'eye lad"

Living somewhere like Otley would take 35mins from the city center by bike,

Keith -- Which route , Bfd - Otley took you more than 15mins by any bike - let alone a 'Busa ? Via Blubberhouses ?

I'd be quite happy to show you some of the better & oh no areas if you are coming up for a look

That's a very kind offer , and one really worth taking up Whatton , as there are vast differnces between the communities around Leeds - differing cultures , differring dialects , differring priorities - if you are going to be up here for any length of time it's worth coming up to make an informed choice .

Perhaps we could all arrange a get together to have a chat over a pint & to welcome Whatton to God's own county ? We might even let the poor benighted Lancastrian serfs across for the evening - what say you all ??

Say The Junction @ Otley ?

All the best , Jim .

I work in Bradford and live in Leeds.
A lot depends on where you are going to be based and what transport you intend to use.
Living somewhere like Otley would take 35mins from the city center by bike, well it did on my Busa but once we get to winter time obviously the times go up.
Ilkley has a decent train link and takes one of the chaps in our office (Bradford University) 40 minutes, but he just says forget using a car as it takes twice as long
I live in Gildersome which is 7 - 10 miles away depending on which route I use 15 - 20 mins on bike, 25 - 35mins by car.

Yea, I was thinking that, all the above offers of otley, skipton et al are okay but they certainly arn't 30min away from bfd unless you are only commuting on a bike, and on shift work times etc

It's been a while since I was in the Junction but yes I would be up for a pint & chat

"Keith -- Which route , Bfd - Otley took you more than 15mins by any bike - let alone a 'Busa ? Via Blubberhouses ?"

I tried various routes as I was looking to move house last year and wanted to see what the traffic was like, so all my journeys were at peak times
I would have still probably moved to Otley but my partner Jan changed jobs and the commute for her would have been silly, so we ended up in Gildersome
but at least I ended up with a 30ft x 16ft basement garage :)

Just round the corner from me then

Could do, as I live just after that nasty bend at Scott Green :)

but I've only lived there since last November and the GS is a fairly recent acquisition, before that it was a black Busa.

you'll have to buy a flat cap and learn what a 'whippet' is

ther's a yorkshire speak translator on the net somewhere - get learning :)

your about 30 years to late for any of that in Bradistan sorry Bradford :mmmm

You have no chance off getting in to, or out of bradford in rush hour to any of the decent places to live in less than a hour.

The site I'll be working on is near Fagley, if that helps with timings :nenau

Fagley:eek: I woluldn't bring the bike if that's where your're going to workunless they can offer you very secure parking.

Jezis is right.

It's not the best place to be, but if your only working there and not having to live there it won't be too bad.

I would not risk parking a bike in that area, it will be gone in no time.

So looking for a OK area to avoid the worst of the traffic allowing a 30 minute comute to Fagley and still be in a OK area would be Calverley,or Apperley Bridge, plus both are close the the Motorway for your weekend run back south.
if you wanted to allow more time for your comute Yeadon and Guiseley:thumb2

Well I've got plenty to go at now, thanks :thumb2

Would be looking for a flat that the company would pay for, I'd be back down South at the weekend. Decent pubs local would also be a bonus :thumb2

I live 11.5 miles from Sth Bradford towards Wakefield and it takes me ~20mins to commute along the M62 but....it has taken a lot longer if the M62 gets log jammed. If you're especially wanting to head South after the week I'd consider somwhere close to the M1/M62 rather than North of Bradford. Plenty of flats etc to rent.
Plenty of decent pubs (real ale, I'm in CAMRA) if you know where to look. I can point them out if you descend on the area :beerjug:

Just round the corner from me and coyotedave in Tingley :thumb2

So you will be on Gain lane I presume
Dazzer is right not the best of areas.
Pudsey may be worth a look particually the Fulneck side plus lots of pubs and its only 10 mins drive:)
